There's been some interest and discussion going at this thread about getting together for a southern campout.

I am interested but when you say camping, do you mean real camping? with tents and roughing it? or do you mean my kind of camping that is in a place with bathrooms?

I might be interested. I'm in the Houston area but haven't been here in awhile since we've been moving! Keep me posted.

I'm probably worse than you...I've never camped in my life. The only time I slept outdoors was the WYD in Denver!

I'm in! We camp with our Little Flowers families and have found that shelters can work as a great compromise between the die-hard campers and the get-me-through-the-weekend campers.

I saw that Galveston was mentioned in the other thread. We have made several family trips there and have stayed at the Seascape. It's one of the few condos that are on the beach. It's definitely pricier than camping but I seem to remember camper hook-ups near by if that makes a difference.

 just my 2 cents.

Anyone with a 4Real signature line.

Camping. I grew up tenting and we started out tenting with my two oldest dc. Then we bought a pop-up, then we bought a full-size camper with bathroom. I've never looked back.

But...I can't tow the camper without dear hubby. So if he can't make it I'll have to rent a cabin or borrow my oldest son's tent. Better yet, I'll have him take us camping and he can get me all set-up and then go fishing. It's nice having two men in the family.

Let's come up with locations first then vote whether to camp or resort it. Some of the campsites have very nice group facilities.

 Camping.
 | | |
Ooops. I didn't mean this as in "It's a camping trip!"

 No. No.

 I meant: "Talking about camping."

I'm reading Suz reply right now. I love the condo-idea. Mainly because I've never stayed in one and it's a very comfortable option.

I don't mind either one - camping versus those with bathrooms. I never done the later in United States before so let me know so that I can go buy the necessary equipment. :p

I've never camped in the south, but if you'll protect me from the alligators, Cay, I'll bring my tent!

Okay, Jennifer, you live on a boat in the Keys but you've never camped in the south? Hon, I think you're a natural. You'll be able to show all of us how it's done.

And forget the crocodiles. It's the mosquitoes that will get you.
Btw, we have alligators in our swamps. Just a slight technicality.

Do we want?!!! Need we ask!!!?
Give us the scoop, Chari. I was going to ask you anyway. Am I in charge though? Goodness, NO! I am not a take-charge kind of person---as you will all discover when we're together. I'll be the one sitting by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate in my hands. My oldest son will be pitching the tent and my second son will be making the fire. I am so not high energy.
I'm a terrible coordinator and if someone doesn't raise their hand to take charge then we're all on this sinking ship together.

I guess we need to pinpoint a season.

Spring 2007 is too soon, I think.

Summer 2007? Need I say it's too hot (though I do hate to miss Dawn having a chance to visit).
And I don't say HOT lightly. Between the bugs and heat we'd all be miserable...unless we rent that condo.
 Fall 2007

 Spring 2008
