Well, I'll be brave and mention that I've moved my blog to a new server. I am hoping this move is permanent.

For those of you who might remember my original blog, "Living and Learning in the Canadian Prairies", it was deleted when I moved to blogger. It was deleted without any warning and I hadn't transferred all of the info on it - nor had I saved a back-up. Pretty dumb, I know, but what's done is done.

I thought I would like using blogger, but I don't. I miss Wordpress! I like having the ability to make pages! And I like the ease of use. So, I made the switch. It's pretty bare at the moment as I didn't have much at the blogger blog and, as I already said, I lost a lot of the stuff from my original site. But, I'm liking it SO much better already!

Anyhow, if you're interested, you can come visit me at Living and Learning.

BTW - Could those of you who so kindly linked to my old blog change your link? The new link is http://livingandlearning.wordpress.com/

Taffy, what a bummer about losing the pages. I'm off to check out your new blog. I just moved mine to typepad last week and although it took some getting used to, I am loving the ease of typepad.

I was just about to email you and thank you for your words of wisdom regarding swapping blogs. I'm intrigued that you didn't like blogger. I also enjoyed wordpress where I was but I found the lack of FAQ page difficult and the photos fiddily to upload. Where you are now do you have the same issues? I remember you were with the same provider before that I am with. Did you have the same problems that I do?

Erin, there is an FAQ page but it's at the Wordpress.com site. I do find uploading photos easier in Blogger so that isn't the reason I'm moving...

Essentially, it's mostly a matter of personal preference. I like having pages to organize my thoughts with and found it awkward to replicate that with blogger. And, I find the wordpress templates more esthetically pleasing. I've seen nice blogger ones but they are so much more time consuming to create and require more CSS than I currently know. I also had a hard time fiddling with the fonts and colours and leaving them alone!

Another issue is the little "coding helps" that are available with both. I use Safari on a Mac and cannot access the little helpers on blogger with it although I can with wordpress. I'd presumed that blogger didn't have this feature until I posted to it from the library's computer.

Of course, as I said, it's really just personal preference. Nothing wrong with blogger, just me!
