I thought this might be an interesting survey. Please feel free to comment. Is it hard or easy to find 4Real folks out there? Have you met any 4Real fans who are not on the board? How can we facilitate meet-ups at conferences?

I would love to meet 4Real folks! When can everyone come to Minnesota---we are having GREAT weather here!
I will be in Louisianna around Easter, and hopefully will be meeting up with Cay. And since I might be driving through Texas....there are a few folks there I'd like to meet, also. And maybe even get a peek at a brand new baby........

Well, I met Cay a couple of years ago at a conference in Houston (I was pretty star-struck!), which is when I bought Elizabeth's book through Cindy Kelly. I guess in Houston I knew a couple of mom's who were very familiar with Real Learning, none on this board (except Cindy from time to time, I think?). I haven't met up with anyone since I've been in CT.
Based on this round about answer, I didn't answer the poll question. Wasn't quite sure which answer fit

Fiddledeedee! I messed up my voting. I just remembered I met MicheleQ at a conference. That takes me to 4.

Interesting, Jenn. I hadn't originally thought of that distinction. But after counting those I had met IRL after meeting them through the CCM list or the 4Real forum, I still come up with more than 10. Most of those meetings were at conferences, usually in the book area. (After all, that's how I first met you, right?) Of those people, I know them much more through this forum than in real life, if that makes sense.

Oops, I counted MaryM and MichelleM but I would have been over 4 anyway because of so many being at our conferences.

I have not met anyone yet, much to my dismay. If I ever got to go to a conference, how would we recognize each other wondering amongst the booksellers? We should get some 4Real name badges to wear at these types of things so we can spot each other!

This is almost exactly what I said, but...I was not as cute AND I didn't introduce myself To Michele because I am a dork so I don't think it really counts.
Meeting Jenn's "lurking" sisters nearly doubles the number of 4Realers I know.

On the phone, thus far, Kim, Marybeth, Nina Murphy, Rebecca ( was *this* close to meeting up) , ALmom.
And going to meet Almom this Sunday.
Was going to suggest to meet up with any 4real people at the Memphis homeschool conference when it gets closer to the time. Relocating has become a whole load more fun when you think who might be living where.

I've met MacBeth, Elizabeth, Lissa (though I was a total dork and didn't know what to say, so I don't know if she'll remember me at all; I guess I was in awe at meeting so many CM (no 4real forum at the time) "biggies" ), MicheleQ, Donna Howey (?) and -- oh no, I forgot her name, she's also in PA....
and I know momtomany and AngieMc IRL.

I have not met anyone, currently in 4Real. But I was directed to CCM a few years back by two ladies in my local hs group who were active before the forum was set up. One mom, some of you know, is Susanne K. She is the epitome of homeschooling, to me. It is almost innate, within her, and in reading the posts of you other ladies, I have an inkling you all may be the same sort of kindred spirit as my dear friend.

I know, can we call "Do-over!" like the kids do in their games?
The phone thing changed mine, too. Elizabeth called me once a while back. I was so in awe I was practically dumbfounded, but babbled incoherently. And I was needed by my family, so completely distracted. I think I scared her off, as I've never got to meet her!
