Summer Greetings!
...well, not yet! But.........let's start thinking of
summer...........even though WE are only going to be 5* above zero tonight! Brrrrrr!
We are planning our SIXTH annual camping trip for Catholic Homeschoolers
this summer. This is for anyone in the west, or willing to travel to the
west.
Here is the official invitation:
The dates are July 20th to the 26th, 2007.
We are camping at Lake Siskiyou, in Mount Shasta, California, which is a
great, clean lake and almost bugless............well, at least hardly any
irritating bugs!......campground.
It is affordable. It is half-way between
Seattle and Los Angeles..........or between Portland and San Francisco. Four hours
from Sacramento. One hour south of the Oregon border.
We have spots for 150 people. Last year we had about 75 people and made
memories for life!
Here is the campsite:
www.lakesis.com
We have an email list just for planning the campout. It is very LOW volume
most of the year, until just before the campout.
The list is private...........but you can send this info to Catholic hsers
you think may be interested.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CathCMWestCoastFun/
It is very clean..............and we are all a lot of fun!
If you have any questions, please ask!
Also, if you cannot make it this
year, but think you might like to join us next year, please join the list,
so you can see how we pull this off each year. We will probably have next year's dates by mid-summer.
Angie? Victoria? Erica? Lissa? Calling all Californians! This is YOUR year to come!
Thanks!
God bless,
Chari

Where in Oregon do you live, Jodie?
Some of our families come just the mom with kids in tow.......Willa and I and Robynn as an example.
Off to bed now!

We'd be an 18-hour drive with just our 3 little ones (luckily dh is a school teacher and would come with us). I would love to come -- I haven't been camping in California since I was little and I have a brother who lives in Redding (45 miles from the campsite).... This area of California is gorgeous and I'd love the kids to see it.
long story short ... maybe we can come out -- I'll talk to dh and see if it's doable.

Oh, I LIKE this idea!
So, we could meet you in your territory in late May...and you could us in OUR territory in mid-July....I like this plan
Jodie, how far are you from Klamath Falls? Medford? Crater Lake? Hey, what are you doing up so late??? You beat me!

I think we're about 4 hours from K. Falls. The night before my dh was on a fire call (he's also on the volunteer fire department) and I couldn't sleep so I was up late last night too. Both the baby and I seem very easy to shift later.. while getting to sleep earlier is hard. Oh well.. tomorrow morning will fix that (getting up for Mass)
I'm honestly not sure if I could do a camping trip alone at the current ages of the kids.. my oldest will only be 10.. and I'll have a 4 yr old and a 2.5 yr old to chase (though the 4 yr old is getting much better) plus the baby will be 6 months and need to be mostly carried while camping.. You see.. I have a family of extroverts with no fear and little caution for things like... WATER. I peeked at the campground to find a map to see.. "how long I'd have to catch the 2 yr old before he was in the water"
I was wondering.. and perhaps this is something I should join that email list for?.. about how much the cost per night for the campsite is.. and generally how things are set up.. do people get together as family groups or are kids running around in groups more or a combo? Generally if we have a defined area for keeping the kids in (even if that area moves around).. so that my older kids are nearby even when playing with friends.. I can handle it.. but if the older kids are going to want to be running off with other kids.. well.. chasing 2 littles while carrying one doesn't usually leave me anytime for visiting

Ooooo...Mary would have to tow me there...I can't stay awake while I drive. Actually it's hereditary. My dad fell asleep all the time and had an accident when I was a baby. Chari, how do you do it? I drove to CA once with my oldest 5. I fought sleep all the way. I sipped diet coke on the way home and it seemed to help. Maybe I'll grow out of it?

I don't think you will grow out of it. I would agree it's hereditary. My mother and one sister are terrible about this! But it just gets worse as you get older.

Bumping this up as a reminder to anyone who would like to join us!
I am having a fun weekend right now with two of the other camping families......can't wait for summer!
So, MaryG........what do you think? Do you have a good tow for Gwen? Hmmmmm......maybe after you meet us in May, you may say, uh, that was enough time spent with those westcoasters
Since the list will be closed for a week, pm me if you have any questions!
A blessed and fruitful Holy week to all of you!

Begging for prayers for a safe and fruitful campout for us westcoast 4RLers.........and esp for two who could not come due to chicken pox in their families .....two of my favorite buddies in the whole world.
Woe is me....I mean, uh, them .....one of them has a stove I will sorely miss
And, for another who could not come due to the death of her father............
.....and one more who has other prayer intentions.
Thanks you.........see you soon!
You will all be in our daily prayers and rosary, esp Elizabeth and Michele, as the original founders of CCM, as we are a westcoast spin-off of the group
Blessings,

I'll be there in spirit! I love Mt. Shasta and sure do wish I could be there in person.
Prayers for a safe and very fun time. And for the requested intentions of course.
Blessings,
Krisann
