Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am needing to find a more effective way of getting on top of the house (in areas the children can't even help - like the mountain of paper work that will take over our house one day) and I have heard many speak of FLY LADY and I found this old thread in particular - FLY LADY and I was wondering if any of you are still with it and using it after all this time - is it still working for you?

I have visited the Fly Lady site and the layout makes me feel like it mustn't appeal to my head, there seems to be so much information everywhere! So I would like to know if I need to 'bite the bullet' and do it anyway.

Thanks and God Bless, Anne

I tried it and tweaked it big time. The e-mails were making me feel like a failure...I could never get every one done in a day(the perfectionist in me). Someone once said there are only so many 15 minute segements in a day. I so agree!!
On the positive side FlyLady got me off my "frannie" and I was less overwhelmed and getting support to do what needed to be done. The e-mails and testimonials helped me see the light and keep me motivated. When I did "fly" for about 6 months about 4 years ago it was wonderful and easy. Haven't been back there since, baby, move, etc.
I eventually started my own FlyLady routines by just doing 15 minutes of cleaning/decluttering per day of what bothered me most I also used her menu ideas and she really helped me there--I've been doing that for years and love Saving Dinner, Leanne Ely's book. I also did a home blessing hour once a week and it made a huge difference in our house.
You might try getting her book out of the library and looking at it that way. It helped me when I got overwhelmed by her website.
I can't say I do everything she says, but she does say to develop what works for you, so, I guess in a way I still do FlyLady
Good luck!
Anne

I took the basic idea combined with motivated moms and got a lot better.

I have decided, though, that having little people means things won't be very clean or organized, at least not for me.

I'm in pure survival mode with little people and pregnancy.

PS I should say that the whole Flylady program did not work for me, just little pieces. So much of it was not for our family.
