Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Janet mentioned in another thread that she is planning to come to the Naval Academy graduation in Annapolis and would love to meet other 4Real members. Graduation is Friday, May 27.

I live about 20 min. from Annapolis.

Would anyone else be interested in a get-together? What kind?

It would be oh, so cool to meet more of you in person!

I was thinking of posting a similar thing for Northern Virginia. There are so many of us in No VA - maybe we could have some kind of park get together in the Spring?

Nancy - I would love to come up the Annapolis - but with my horrid morning sickness, and usual tendency for early contractions, I would probably not drive that far from home - unless it was a weekend and dh was driving.

It would be great to meet some of you in person.

I'm up for it too! I live in the same county as Annapolis so I would be really happy to attend a get together there.

Nancy,
You know I am up for it. I love Annapolis!

I have a few other ideas also......

Rachel and I are talking about a trip to the Basilica and JPII Cultural Center later this month.

Nancy and I are hoping to meet at the Baltimore Aquarium in Feb. If enough people are interested we can try to get group tickets. They are still on the pricey side but will save up a few dollars.

I would also like to see Miss Potter, it is only playing in two theatres in the area, one in Bethesda and in DC. My dh isn't really interested in going so anyone up for it???????

I think it would be fun to meet up at the zoo, Mt. Vernon or Smithsonian every now and then.
PM me if you are interested in any of the above.

I want to do everything!

I was just thinking today that we could do a 4Real pool party thing here this summer if people want to.

What's Miss Potter, Mary Chris?

Miss Potter it is a movie about Beatrix Potter. I first read about it on Dawn's blog. It hasn't gotten the best reviews but I still think it would be fun to see.

I am interested and happy to make the drive from NH. We've done it before for NACHE and a wonderful conference in PA (Donna, and others, did a great job of putting that together).
Always happy to travel to meet people and connect on a personal level.

In years past we have talked about an East Coast camping trip. Maybe we can get some advice from Chari and Willa as to how to put one together.

Any suggestions for campgrounds?

We'll be in the DC/Annapolis area prior to the graduation (from the Sunday before) but have to head for Ohio for the same nephew's wedding immediately after graduation (guess I should ask if anyone's in Steubenville area - just don't know how much time we'll have there - still I'd sure like to meet anyone). I do know we will have to plan around my in-laws in the DC/Annapolis area as well but know we can do at least something with the group (preferably outside where the children, who will be totally stir crazy by then, can wiggle and we can chat and children can get to know each other too. I know my children would love to meet other Catholic homeschoolers, they are pretty sparse here!). Oh, I am really, really, bubbling over excited about the possibility of meeting some of you face to face. Nancy - thanks so much for actually knowing the date (I have this vague idea of hotel hopping, restaurant sitting and driving long distances so I didn't even remember the actual date ) and for posting this! Since you are 20 min. from Annapolis - wow! I'll keep checking this and PM closer to the actual date (I have at least figured out how to do that). Thank you so, so much!

Janet

Would a park/picnic be a good option? Our county has lots of nice parks (one is very near my house...it's huge). I could look into reserving a pavilion for our hopefully large group, and people could come and go as they please. The only drawback is that the park I have in mind charges an entry fee for each vehicle...$5.00, and the pavilion rental will cost something too. I'll get details if this kind of event appeals to everyone.

There are other parks closer to Annapolis. Our place is about the same driving time from where Janet is staying, so for her I don't think the location is a large issue.

Let me know!

And, Mary Chris, you know I am onboard for, well, anything.

I'd vote for somewhere a little outside of Annapolis. I lived there for 6 years and in town is a ZOO on graduation weekend.

I would be interested, Nancy. And like Sara, vote for someplace a little bit removed. The traffic is incredible during that week.

God bless,

Yes, that's what I'm thinking. I will call our park this week and find out about a pavilion; I know they charge a lot for special events, but I'm hoping we can qualify as a private group and pay less. Don't worry, I am not crazy enough to go near downtown Annapolis during graduation!

This sounds absolutely wonderful. Thanks Nancy!

Oh Sara, I'm not looking forward to the zoo part of the Annapolis graduation, though excited for my nephew. I am so much not a crowd person (one reason I always have such a hard time in DC, it just seems like everywhere is crowded).

I missed this originally and caught it when Jenn mentioned it on the candleside chat thread. (Thanks, Jenn!) I'd love to join you all for a gathering in late May. The park/pavilion idea sounds great.

One of my first 4Real field trips was a trip to the National Zoo with Mary Chris's and Richelle's families back when Richelle was visiting from MN. It was the beginning of a wonderful friendship between my family and Mary Chris's. I'd also be interested in another zoo trip when it gets warmer this spring.
