Where do you find matching dresses for your girls? I wanted to buy a few for my girls. I was looking for more of a casual look (everyday). I went on Hanna Andersson online and they are out of a lot of sizes, almost everything! UUURRRGGGHHH! Any ideas?

If you can wait until after Christmas, Hanna Andersson will be re-stocking and getting new dresses. That is my favorite source for matching and quality.
Land's End is also an excellent source.

I agree with Alice. Those are our 2 favorite matching dress sources. And they hand down so well.

Do you sew? I used to make matching dresses when the girls were little. They don't like to wear dresses, let alone matching ones, anymore.
They sell alot of "easy" to sew patterns and I can usually find great $1.00 or $2.00/yd. fabric.
Blessings,
Krisann

Do any of you find that your younger girls are "tired" of the same dress after they get handed down once or twice? This is purely an academic question for me, because I only have one girl, so far....
I always think that girls look so cute in matching dresses but I wonder if there's ever any grumbling.

I'm always the cheap voice when it comes to clothing threads! But, I recently ordered some matching plain white dresses for my girls and doctored them up with different things from Dharma Trading. These are good quality cotton dresses too. We plan on doing some tie dye after Christmas. Molly is wearing one today that goes to her sweet little ankles, plain white, with candy cane striped tights! (I'd take a pic but my camera is kaput)
Also, Oriental Trading carries some cute cute print dresses, and even little boy shirts to match!

Noreen, They don't seem to mind. They actually seem to enjoy it. I just try to add a new one or two in each season and keep things fresh.

Lisa, thanks for the Dharma link! I can just see my girls going at those white dresses with a bunch of fabric pens....Can you tell me if they launder well? Do they get pilled or anything? The prices are a little too good to be true! thanks!

Yes, they have washed and wore very well! They are made to take dye and decor. We have yet to dye any of ours, only adding trim or bells! The prices are great!

I try and keep in mind colors.. like we do white/black/red for Christmas.. that allows me to have all the kids coordinated.. but not matching.. one might wear the dress that was handed down from a sister in black and white checks.. and one might wear a dress we got in a bag from a neighbor that's red velveteen.. boys all have black dress pants and various vest, jackets, sweaters in the right colors.. same thing.. because I know we use those colors.. I can sort though and snag the things that will work.
I can do the same with hand me down more casual things.. keeping to similar styles, fabrics, colors can let me coordinate the kids without having to match. Oh and there are some things that everyone has.. navy and white turtlenecks for instance.. pair with jeans/overalls/denim skirts/jumpers and voila.. all "matching"

oh also check The Children's Place.. lot of things too short but sometimes it's good.. I found ankle length fleece skirts there last year for instance.

Well thanks again, Lisa!!! I just ordered five white dresses and a few silk scarves I couldn't resist! What a site! My head was spinning with the possibilities for gifts but I restrained myself as Christmas is so near and the dc already have all their crafts in the works...
I can't wait to let my girls at those dresses!
Jodie, your coordinating ideas are very practical! I will often have my girls all wear the same color dress or jumper. Even if they don't match they look coordinated and nice together and they think it's fun to have a Pink Day or Purple Day or whatever. I also like them to all wear red for martyr's feast days. They were all pink for Gaudete Sunday and the guys wore slightly pink (ish) ties.

Thank you for all the great responses!! The Dharma Trading site looks great. A lot of great ideas!! I am going to keep checking in to Hanna Andersson. Their clothes are so pretty!!
(Do you sew? I used to make matching dresses when the girls were little.)
I just learned how to sew, I have only attempted a skirt. Dresses intimidate me!! I should try sometime though.
