Did anyone happen to see the football game the other night where a football player said "Homeschooled, Thanks Mom," when they have the players tell what colleges they are from? My dh caught it and just told me about it...he said the announcers were so surprised by him that they talked about it for a few minutes...they said it was the first time they had ever heard that and then said that he actually did go to college but was talking about before college. I bet his parents were so pleased to hear him! How neat that he was able to put a "plug" in for homeschooling-it must still be near and dear to his heart!

That sounds so sweet! His momma must be proud.
Can you imagine your child acknowledging all your hard work on national tv?!
I just did a search & it was during the Chiefs vs. Chargers game.
Found this one a sports blog:
During the player intros, KC's Jared Allen said, and I quote: "Jared Allen, home schooled. Thanks, Mom."

Yes, we heard it! Actually, my husband did - I was in bed reading and he rushed the laptop down to me and replayed it for me.

We saw it! DH was impressed and came down to the kitchen to tell me.

Was he really homeschooled? I did a search and on his player profile with the Chief's the 2 public schools he attended for 4 years of high school are listed. There was also a lenghty column about the trouble he got in at different schools and how he shaped up, but there was no mention of homeschooling.

Hmmm...I think I might know the guy to do some research for you. That was Sunday Night Football, right?

While reading his bio yesterday, I found the same thing.
I was unsure if he was under a dual enrollment or looking at his 'record' maybe this was a joke. There was one article that did mention buying cars & smashing them in a homeschool derby though.
