Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Nothing like waiting for the last minute, and I'm rushing out the door, and hoping someone can help me.

I have a 3 yo son. Loves playing with tools, loves to play cooking. I was thinking of a play kitchen, but maybe a workbench.

I've been skimming so many catalogs, I can't remember where I saw a wooden workbench for starting at ages 3 or 4. This is the larger kind, not the tiny ones.

But also any help on a wooden kitchen? In the $150 range? Nothing girly...I know we had a thread...

I had both my children still talk about the kitchen set, no word of the tool bench we had.
I should not have gotten rid of the kitchen they said, they are now 5, 7 & 9 years old!

Potterybarn for kids has a cute ones,
ikea has one for a better price.
this site has a few: (and the cutest play/toy coffee maker I have ever seen-I may buy it!)

Good Luck,

Jenn,
The thread I started about wooden kitchens is here.   I ended up ordering the one from Little Colorado for $136.89--scroll down the thread and you will see the link...I haven't opened it; it's still packed and in the garage--but my friend (Katherine in TX!) got it for her little one and I saw it--it's very nice. I noticed on the link I gave you that it says they can't deliver for Christmas but you might try a search for other vendors who sell Little Colorado products...
Good luck!!

Yes, I bought it for my 3 year old in November for her birthday and she loves it. It is very well made, the shipping was only $11 and it was packaged very well. It is not girly at all, just a nice natural pine finish. All the kids really like it and it is nice looking enough to have in the kitchen area.

I actually bought it on Jennifer's recommendation, we just opened ours earlier.

Is it this workbench? A little on the small side but my 2 year old is just growing into it, and my 4.5 year old enjoys it as well. She actually enjoys screwing the bolts/screws together to make different combinations. They are some sort of "secret" something or other - they are all over the house now!

My ds didn't use the work bench. He liked to be with me and pretend to fix things I needed. ie: the kitchen floor, my bed, etc. It was very cute! I miss those days!!!

He still uses the kitchen and now is into writing down our order and being the waiter.

Enjoy whatever you purchase...3 and 4 are such magical ages at Christmas!!

Thanks for your help. Cici, that was one of the benches I was eyeing. There is another "Voila" bench at Gummylump but all sold out.

I went with a kitchen at Gummylump, as today was the last day for the "special" shipping. Dh likes the colored ones, so that's what we picked. I like the natural all wood, but the painted are nice, too.

Very cute! We just recently discovered that show and really like it. Plus, Daddy just got some new tools and is making things, so it's inspiring the little one!

Similar to Alice's venting post, I had a long trial today with Christmas shopping...but it has a happy ending. I had ordered a toy kitchen from Gummylump on Monday, as it was the last day for "special" orders. Within our budget, there weren't too many choices left, as most had been sold out, so I went with a second choice.

This morning I received an email saying they were completely sold out and refunded my money! It was the manufacturer's mistake, as they had the inventory wrong, but I was so distressed on how long it took for the message, and was most upset on how I had to scramble to find another one at such late notice.

I wrote back and told them so...and they offered to help me out if I wanted to place an order to another one. There were slim pickings, but I told them there was another kitchen I liked, but it was out of my price range, and stated what my limit was. They actually are sending that one to me for my price limit...and it's considerable savings to me. It's a much nicer kitchen, and I'm so pleased!!

I'm still so incredulous, but they really wanted to do the right thing for me. I just wanted to sing Gummylump's praises...I will definitely continue to do business with them!
