Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I live in a warm climate, so for much of the year I can wear shoes without socks or tights- if I wanted to. But I don't like having my feet sweaty or dirty, and I spend a lot of time outside. So I made a trip to Target to look at my options- Whew! I never realized there are so many different types of low socks, half- socks, socks that are really just a band going around the middle of your foot... And while I'm standing there perusing the sock options, my wonderful dc are taking bras off the rack behind me and putting them on their heads, which they thought was enormous fun. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but that ended my sock expedition very quickly.

Has anyone tried all these different types of "alternative" socks? I wear a lot of clogs in the winter, and I'm wondering what type of mini-sock to buy. It would get kind of expensive to buy several types just to experiment. Any suggestions? Thanks

Melinda

Are these open-backed clogs? I've tried many options, as I'm like you, I like to be barelegged and our climate isn't too chilly all the time.

I had to do trial and error. The problem with many of the socks is that they might show, depending on the cut of your shoe.

The band around the half of the foot sock in cotton works well for open-backed clogs, especially those that are loose. It makes the shoe fit better, and less sweaty stinky feet (also great to not get blisters). But I don't usually like wearing open back clogs with skirts unless I'm wearing matching tights. The bare foot look is unattractive to me...just my hang-up. When I wear slacks, I wear the open-backed with usually matching socks.

I have some Mary Jane clogs that I wear the half socks or booties. They have black, nude, white...lots of options. Those are great because they are thin, help break in the shoe without blisters. But sometimes they do show depending on the cut, so I try different colors to see what shows the least.

HOpe that helps a bit.

Yes- that is very helpful. I have several pairs of open back clogs- I don't like the bare heel look either. I'll have to try tights, and, I think, get a pair of Mary Janes. All this shopping will have to be done without kids, though. I was mortified in the store

Mortified is what I would be, too! I think they might behave next time with strict instructions? Ladies' underwear are off-limits! Yikes!
