Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

It's time to post dates and places for the fairs for next year. But first, it would help to know what those fairs might be. And, since I have the flu-or-whatever-it-is, I'm not feeling all that creative or energetic. So, please help me! If you have a suggestion for a fair, please post it here. If it needs to be tagged to a specific time of year, note that too. I'll compile the list and then take volunteers for hostesses.

A few theme ideas:

The loveliness of ...

winter/snow
handcrafts
letter writing and/or journaling
homekeeping
tea with children
going to Mass (or parish life)
winter baking
candles (candlemas?)
valentines/romance

I will try to think some more on this. I am so excited to hear everyone's ideas!

ETA

reading
children's birthdays
gardening
nature walks ...

still thinking

I thought of that one, Dawn Candles/Candlemas -- loveliness of light in winter (around Feb. 2)

Mine are liturgical thinking. For the next few months off the top of my head:

Epiphany
Carnival/Mardi Gras/Pre-Lent
Lent
Irish/St. Patrick/ -- Mar 17
St. Joseph...especially St. Joseph altars. Wouldn't it be neat if people could make little St. Joseph altars for a Fair. Nothing big like the Sicilian kind...but...

I was going to go with an ever-other-Monday calendar, but now I see we'll have to tweak that a bit to suit the liturgical calendar...Wouldn't want to have to choose between St. Joseph and St. Patrick

Loveliness of Parents

I was thinking specifically *our* parents or in-laws. They have been such a blessing that I take for granted too often.

Can someone explain (detailed please) what a *hostess* of a loveliness fair does, and what is the difference between a *loveliness fair* and a *carnival of ____* is?

I'm a bit confused, but would love to possibly help sometime if the Holy Spirit leads me.

Thank you!

in addition to Dawn's baking... I'd add cooking ALWAYS room for recipes!
And how about the loveliness of Lenten Sacrifices? Everyone can blog about what they gave up for Lent and why
And Lenten dishes too... meatless meals
Loveliness of Love... for Valentines day...
Marian Gardens and Mary for May (OK a while away)
New years resolutions?

It's funny, but Dawn has posted most ideas I can think of... we must have similar likes

I really like all the ideas thus far.

What about...

summer
devotions
saints
being a woman (feminine)
books

Just my humble 2 cents.

All the fairs have been so inspiring and uplifting this year...thank you!

Marybeth

Loveliness of...

flowers (I love the Marian garden idea)
birds or wildlife (we get so much joy from our avian friends!)
family traditions/family heritage
patron saints or Confirmation patrons
homesteading/sustainable living
sewing

We have years of Loveliness to look forward to, at this rate!

I really like the New years resolutions ( mottoes?) and the recipes/cooking ideas.... I'd be happy to host another one if there is a shortage of hostesses ( can't imagine there will be, though. ).

All fabulous ideas. Here is my stream of consciousness list of possibilities:

backyard shrines
lapbooks
travel
internet friendships
boys
girls
family tradition
baby names (and why)
churches
children's rooms
family memories
family recipes
humor
hospitality
picnics

[Dawn, I especially love the "children's teas" idea and would be thrilled to host it.]

One more...

Nativity scenes (handmade, around the world, family treasures)

I would love to see a Loveliness Fair on "feminine dressing" or more particularly "feminine dressing for the everyday realities of a busy mom"...I need to see pictures of how to mate feminine to practical while minusing out the frumpy, lol.
