Anyone know of a good source for mail-order deli meats? I am looking in particular for a good authentic prosciutto.
Thanks!

Hi, Theresa, why do you need to mail-order it? Where are you in NC? LMK and I'll try to find a local source for you.

Amazon carries lots of prosciutto from different makers/sellers: including my favorite Volpi (family owned business in St. Louis) -- they have been making their own Italian charcuterie for years and is well known among the Italians in the city. They also carry prosciutto from Parma.

For more online ordering, there's iGourmet.com but the price -- yikes! They sell it by the leg -- $200 (about 15 lbs.). Also Zabar's -- 8 oz. sliced at about $16, and Dean and Deluca $325 for 17 lbs.

In NC Conti's and Giacomo's may be able to help you.

Conti's
618 N Person St
Raleigh, NC 27604
(919) 836-8368

Giacomo's
4705 High Point Rd
Greensboro, NC 27407
(336) 547-2888

I am in far western NC and there is not much here. We have an Ingles and a Walmart. That's it! Right now I am paying 5 dollars for 3 oz of not too good stuff. It wasn't a problem to find when we lived in FL, but here...
I would like to buy it a pound or two at a time, but cannot afford a whole leg (yikes is right!)
I had not thought of Amazon!I will check them out. Thanks for the brand recommendations. Good prosciutto is one of my all time favorite treats!
It is hard being an Italian in a lily-white, bicuits and gravy town! (not that I don't like biscuits and gravy, but you know...)

(Raleigh and Greensboro are 5 and 4 hours away)
