Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

When should this end?

My baby will be a year in December and it is still falling out like it did when she was a couple months old.

I have a lot of hair and I am still finding it everywhere, on me, on the floor, on the baby . Everytime I wash my hair, it is all over the tub.
What causes this?

Hormones! I had bald patches on my temples for months and months especially as I was pregnant or breastfeeding for 5.5 years without a break (I'm sure that's nothing compared to some). My hairdresser said it was really common for mothers.

Mine's come back now as my youngest is nearly 3 but I'm ready to go bald again!

I go through this every time, too. I can't remember how long it lasts. Maybe I will write it down somewhere this time to remember for next time!

Emily is 6 months and it is still coming out by the handful in the shower. It is amazing that I don't have any bald spots.

Did you ever notice that the grey hairs don't fall out? So, maybe if I am all grey before another baby comes along I won't lose any hair.

I think that mine was falling out for well over a year. I went to my regular hairdresser when DD was about 8 or 9 months and then not again until DD was 17 months and she remarked on how thin my hair was. She said I must have had some bald spots as there were spots in the middle of my head were the hair was really short and I could see little short hairs at my hairline. In fact, my hair line is still filling in, but now I won't be losing it for a while as I am pg again. It was very disconcerting when it was coming out in big clumps, but then I remembered back to my pregnancy when I didn't lose any and I felt a little better.

My youngest is 3 so it's been a while for me but I can't remember how long it lasts either. Something you may want to try though... I've still been unhappy about all of the hair on my comb when getting out ot the shower. But I've found that Mane and Tail shampoo and conditioner cause less breakage and my hairline is starting to look fuller again. My husband groaned when he saw that I'd purchased it as I'm "horse-crazy" and he was sure that's why I bought it. But I must say that I've been really pleased with how much fuller my hairline is looking...

It probably won't help with the hormonal hair loss but it might help decrease the natural hair breakage and make the most of what you've still got.

Could be a symptom of thyroid problems? When my thyroid is low, I loose hair and it is everywhere! (I have long hair too)

I also loose hair in a systematic way during pregancy and breastfeeding. I obviously loose it during pregancy(and don't miss it) then a few months after birth, I get this small regrowth around all around my forehead. This grows and grows until it is about 3 inches long (about 2years now after birth) and I usually fall pregnant again and it is all lost! Being doing that for 13 years in this cyclic fashion.

Thyroid's play up in pregancy and after birth and so that funny little thing could be connected to it. But as I said, I have periods of hair falling out everywhere and all over when my thyroid is playing up.
