Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Seriously. We have no money for presents this year. I have $225 to spend on 15 people. For my extended family good present=love. My in-laws have made clear that they don't consider food presents "real" gifts. HELP!!

I have lots of sock yarn (from when I found it on sale and had visions of making socks for everyone--NOT happening) it is nice and stretchy and very thin. I have some cotton yarn (not much) and some of that nice Homepsun. I also have some felt (I was thinking maybe Nativity felt finger puppets for my nephews who are 2 and 3). For stocking stuffers I was going to can some apple cakes in little jelly jars.

Ok, creative friends, I need your brains!

Those really thin scarves seem popular this year, can you really loosely finger weave or knit a few scarves? Mary Ellen has inspiration here.

Family portraits nicely framed make a nice gift for adult family members. You can do the portraits fairly cheaply by having a frind use a digital camera and then printing on photo paper. Then the main expense is just the frame.
For babies hand stitch a little bit on a blanket, like a decorative edge and a name, etc.
For kids try decorating hats, tees, or sweat shirts, making them personalized somehow. Even embellished sneakers, flip-flops or tote bags can be cute.
I've seen some really pretty hand made and embellished journals.

Could you group families together and purchase one gift per family/married couple? We had to do this as our gift list was enormous. Now we try to buy a simple gift for each family - like a board game etc. something that they can all enjoy together.

Hope that helps some,
