Hey, y'all -- when the moterhboard fried on my computer, I lost all my bookmarked favorites for online sites.
What are your favorite used book resources -- there was one I used to check all the time, and I just can't remember what it was called

I always go to
the Meta-search site: bookfinder
Also,
ebay
hallf.com
and
Amazon (which sometimes shows up on bookfinder but sometimes I get more hits going straight to Amazon)
Hope this helps...

I find a lot at the ones Jen mentioned above but if there is an especially hard-to-find title that amazon or bookfinder doesn't have, abebooks.com usually has a copy and they also have a way to register titles for email notification if one becomes available...

Bookfinder does search Abebooks, but the email notification is nice. See this list[.url"> for all the places to search.
One other metasearch similar to bookfinder is AddAll, which can search both used (the link) or new books.

Thanks y'all -- abebooks.com was the one I couldn't think of. Alibris and some of the others seem overly expensive and won't let you take back.... for new books, I've also found overstock.com was exceptional!

How about Book Mooch? The books are free, and it works on an exchange system of points.

And don't forget PaperbackSwap; I've picked up lots of classical literature for my son this year by trading my old mystery paperbacks!

Now, I never heard of this one -- and you say it's "free" -- that's my favorite word (especially now that dh has me on a budget, a real one this time )

I know Jenn said this, but it bears reiterating. Bookfinder is a meta search - it searches a bunch of sites and ABE is one of them. Thanks for the info on the abe email notification, Jennifer. I didn't know about that but you reminded me that half.com and ebay also have email notification. (I love the internet )
