Which roadside assistance program do you prefer and why?
AAA or Allstate
We have to renew our roadside assistance and we aren't sure which one is better. We have used Allstate for the past few years but AAA costs less and seems to have more roadside calls available (4 per driver vs. 3 per year).
Is there one you dislike or that you really like, if so why?
Thank you!
Blessings,
Krisann

I've always had AAA -- when I first went off to grad school, my dad bought a membership and I've been a member pretty much ever since.
Easy road-side assistance or even a jumpstart in your driveway -- now how would I know that
Also, they have a travel agency so you can get travel books, their recommendations on motels is usually pretty accurate and there are some discounts at restaurants, hotels, etc.
But, then, I've never looked into Allstate....

Allstate was pretty terrible, in my opinion. We had it for a year or so and the waits were long, one time they didn't even show up.
I had AAA for years and was generally pleased with them. They also have many perks that Allstate doesn't.
We have USAA now through our auto insurance. It is great and we don't pay extra for it!

Molly,
I have USAA! Do they cover lockouts and flats and things like that?
I guess I could just look online, huh?
Thanks! That might just save us $75 or more per year.
Blessings,
Krisann

Ditto here. I think it's worth the price.

I would check by region. We use AAA and it works very well for us - but in some big cities, I've heard that some of these roadside assistance plans won't respond in certain neighborhoods or parts of town. Also look at whether or not all drivers in your household are covered under one fee or if it is seperate. We just noticed that the fee goes way up if both dh and I are listed - but where we are and where dh works, it doesn't matter to us cause he'd be there calling the service anyways.
