Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

By the way, what gave me the idea for the CM blog was a similar thought I had--and actually started--for doing an "Around the Year with the Von Trapp Family" blog, using the text of Maria von Trapp's book (which is available for download in the EWTN library). I was going to post a passage each day pertaining to the appropriate day or season of the liturgical year.

But I only got about a day into it and ran out of time. Here's as far as I got: Von Trapp Blog. (See, it was even green for ordinary time.)

So there's another project waiting for someone who has the time.

I've finally started working on it. I know it's late for the Archangels and today the memorial of the Guardian Angels is waning...but I thought it would be a nice start.

Around the Year with the Trapp Family.

I will be confusing the matter a bit by inserting some other excerpts from Maria Trapp's other writings where I think suitable. This month I'm focusing on Marian feasts, rosary, and saints. Near the end of the month and most of November will be the focus on the Last Things, and then I'll be starting Advent. I'm aiming to add the text before the actual feasts, but I know how life can get...so we'll see how I carry on.

I'm sorry about the musical image. I'm working on rescanning a better image, but I'm having trouble getting it just right. And right now I can only use Photobucket to make the image display properly. I'm having trouble getting used to Wordpress. Blogspirit is SOO much easier.

Ditto what Caroline said, JennGM -- I love the idea of this blog (especially the Austrian/Catholic connection!)

Thanks JennGM for running with this ...

On the Von Trapp family topic, I wonder if any of the relatives are still Catholic. I know her grandchildren's family tour as Von Trapp family singers but are Protestant. They talked about their "being saved now" in an interview I read online once at the Christian Book Distributors website (in their catalog). When I read this subject line for the blog, I at first thought maybe someone found one of their (Protestant) blogs. I just wouldn't be surprised if Jenn got a note about her blog from them, I guess I'm trying to say.

I have a hardback copy of the book I got several years ago (paid too much $$) but I do treasure it!

I agree, Joanna, that I don't think many are practicing any more. I am afraid that someone will shut me down. Should I take it off the search engines?

Ditto, my thoughts exactly Hurrah hurrah.

Jenn,

As you are concerned about getting shut down could you get around it my changing the name and perhaps adding some of your own thoughts to get around the problem. It would become yours then wouldn't it?

Then again what does getting shut down mean? What is the worst case scenario? Or perhaps you could email the Catholic memebers?

I'm getting the Advent chapter up this week. Be sure to check periodically for the Trapp Blog.

Jenn -

Thank you for sharing this with everyone. I actually own a copy of Around the Year that I came upon second hand and it is something I cherish.

Peace,
Nancy
