Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Jenn's thread on leap pad prompted me to start thinking about these. With Christmas close enough around the corner...

what do you think? Worth it? I've seen, somewhere here? somewhere on line? that you can make your own cards for them. The IDEA sounds great, but is it reality?

Do you have one? Do your children enjoy them? Oh - and what's the difference between the laptop for 3-7 and the laptop for ages 8+ - the look the same.

I just picked one up at a consignment store over the weekend for $15.00, I was so excited! My children are really enjoying it. It did have a few cards to use to make your own but I don't know how to do that yet. I don't think that there is a difference between the two. I will check the packaging that came with mine but I remember it saying you could use both type of cards.

You can make up your own cards, although I never have done this. I think the two machines are basically the same.   I bought one several years ago at a curriculum fair, but none of my kids have ever been very inclined to use it.

I was actually given a Math Safari just a few weeks ago and already have one.   If anyone would like it for the cost of shipping, I would be happy to send it your way.   It has just a few of the math packets and I think they are upper elementary level, but will check for sure if you are interested. Just PM me.

I have one that I bought from Goodwill. My kids all enjoy it. I will put it out on the table with some cards related to things we are covering or things I want them to review.

It is a good toy for many ages. The concept is simple and easy to use, but keeps even the 13 yob engaged for awhile.

Making your own cards it easy to do. and there are so many card packets available.

The laptop is a different thing. It only has the cards that it comes with, no expansion packs. Also you can't make cards for it.

We have had one for about 7 years now. It falls in and out of favor, but I definately got my Mom's moneys worth out of it.
