This is a bit last minute, but we'll be travelling to Michigan this next week. We're actually flying into Chicago and driving to Grand Rapids. Part of our trip will be a family reunion in the Ludington/Custard area.

Anyone nearby? We'd love to meet up with you!

Erica - this doesn't help at all - but I still thought it was kinda funny. We're going to Michigan this week...for a family reunion outside of Detroit...we're actually flying into St. Louis and driving by way of Indianapolis.
If Southwest flew direct into Chicago we could have caravaned! Oh well, we'll wave from our highway to yours!

we aren't on that side of the state (which is absolutely beautiful!) But we have visited, and I just wanted to mention the beautiful beach there in Ludington on Lake Michigan.
My boys had the greatest time there and one of their favorite things was the fog rolling from the lake onto the beach. It was so cool to see, although I got a bit nervous with them in the water, and the visibility rapidly dropping!
I don't know if your trip will entail a beach visit, but I am sure you will have fun!

Just wanted to second Stacy's post about Ludington. We've camped there before and really like it alot.   We also love Grand Rapids as far as big cities go. They have a nice Children's Museum there. Hope you enjoy your trip. We're in Michigan too, but a bit far from where you will be.

Bridget - I just pm'd you! It would be wonderful if we could somehow meet you and your family in person!

Suz - too funny! Too bad it's not the same reunion and we're not long lost cousins! I thought we had a layover in St. Louis, but it's actually Kansas City. Our Southwest flights are just terrible, but oh, so cheap, which is why we're flying into Chicago instead of directly into GR. It's really the only way we can (barely) do it with our largish family.

Stacey - We definitely have plans to go to the beach in Ludington and then again in Grand Haven or Holland. I've been reminiscing about swimming in that fresh Lake Michigan water!

Becky - God is good! I checked the weather and it looks unbelievably good for this time of the year! We've been breaking heat records here in San Diego....Michigan is looking great right about now!

My mom was born and raised in Grand Rapids and, although I was born and raised in San Diego, Michigan has a very special place in my heart!
