Hi Ladies,
I've enjoyed the conversation about elegant simplicity and daily rhythms so much. I thought it was yesterday, that I came across somebody scheduling their day by morning, afternoon, and evening rhythms. They even had a little prayer for each of these segments. I wanted to say that it was the meadow press blog, but though it's close, it's not exactly what I was remembering. I was there perusing the website though and that led me on a rabbit trail and I don't know where I ended up! Does this ring a bell with anyone?
I try to have times of prayer during the morning, afternoon, and evening, but what I had read really expressed my goal and desire for each of these time periods.
Maybe I'll be more successful if I plan rhythms by time periods rather than by the hour.
Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated and will keep me from my fruitless search!

You know, I was there at some point too yesterday. That's a very good website and enjoyed it, but it wasn't it. I've been through the history in my computer (which is alot since dh worked from home yesterday) and I can't find it.
What I remember was somebody listing Morning Rhythm with a little prayer and then the activities. Then Afternoon Rhythm with a prayer and the activities, followed by Evening Rhythm with prayer and activities. The prayers were just one sentence and summed up the desire or goal for that time period.
What I really would like is to incorporate those prayers into my planning.
Since I lost the baby a month ago, and since we've been through alot here lately (traveled twice with dh, dh was in the hospital with atrial fibrilation and just got out Mon.), I have NO short term memory it feels like. I can't seem to store information well right now. It's so frustrating. But it's a minor annoyance compared to all the other things that have happened. I'm grateful for the way God has carried us through the past few months and am grateful for the help of sisters in the Lord to keep my sanity!

It's worth looking at even if it's not what you are looking for.

You know Karen, that's where I thought I saw it. I've been all over that website and blog and that's kinda the idea of how to seperate my day, but it doesn't have the little one line prayers for each time slot (morning, afternoon, evening) that I am looking for.
It's soo frustrating to me to know that I've seen what I'm describing and not remember where.
Do any of you have little prayers or desires for the daily rhythms? How do you keep your spiritual focus during the day?
THanks!

Ana,
I hope you find what you were looking for. I am interested too.
For a while I had my day keyed to the liturgy of hours -- it was so naturally related to flow of my day -- Laud for rising, then Terce, Sext (noon), and None (3 pm), then Vespers in the evening and Compline before bedtime. Matins/Vigil if I woke up at 3 am which I often did back then.
I didn't SAY the Divine Office though I used Magnifcat for some of the prayers. It was more like a way of pegging my time and recognizing the flow of the day. I would have various things that belonged to each time period. I would try to close one period and open the next with a few moments recollection and prayer. Even if I only had time to murmur an aspiration, it still helped keep me focused on the "one needful thing".

Willa,
That sounds so lovely! That is my goal to open and close each period of my day with prayer. That's exactly what I want to do. I'll look at that website. I'd like to hear or see more of how you fleshed it all out. Did you write the prayers in a planner? How did you remember to do that?
THanks!
