Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I felt I would like to share this beautiful little story out of a very old St Anne booklet that my mum has just brought round to me - she had bought it at an op shop. It is like the St Anne booklet you can buy today but with more detail.

Listen to this, all those dear women who have lost children -
Quote:

A French physician who had witnessed the death of more than two thousand mothers once remarked: "I have always found a Christian mother's death to be most beautiful and edifying."
The following example is one of many instances which show us the happiness of a Christian mother's death-bed.
In the forties of the last century a Christian mother lay dying in a village of the Black Forest in Baden. Seven of her children had pre-deceased her. Suddenly she raised herself, and with a cry of joy, exclaimed "O, my little children!"
"What do you see?" inquired the priest who was beside her.
"All my seven children are there," was the reply, as she sank back upon the pillow, and went to join her dear ones.

I was getting pin pricks behind the eyes at reading that lovely story, so I just wanted to share.

On the page before I was reading this:
Quote:
St Anne obtains many graces, priceless graces for those who invoke her, but she grants her maternal assistance in particular to Christian mothers. She preserves peace in married life, restores harmony in discord, and wonderfully changes a husband's bad disposition. She protects the birth of children in an extraordinary manner, bestows blessing that lighten the tast of rearing children properly, brings wayward children back upon the right path, obtains restoration of health for the sick mother, preserves her precious life for the helpless children and prevents the loss of husband and father.

There is something there for every mother, for every family circumstance - I needed to read that today after my posting here today, I am going to start honoring her in my Tuesday communions again and her feast is coming soon (26th of July) the beginning day for a novena to her for her feast is probably a week or so away, I think this is way I love my name, she is a beautiful patron for mothers.

This is beautiful! Thanks for sharing. Thanks also for the reminder on starting a novena before her feast day.

How beautiful.
My mother, myself, and two of my dds share St. Anne as a patron saint.

I have been hard pressed at times to find a "young" picture of St. Anne. In most she is portrayed as elderly...fitting because she was Jesus' grandmother...but my dd likes the younger image.

Thank you for sharing this, how beautiful. I too am an Ann (no "e") and have always held Good St. Anne close to my heart. I'm so glad to know how she intercedes for mothers. Thanks again.

That is a great post. I knew she was the patron saint of women in labor but had no idea how much more she has for us. I am going to ask for her intercession more often.

God Bless -mary

So I am. My children just love her and St Joachim. I have had difficult morning (all day) sickness with this baby and I think I will ask for her intercession as well.

God bless,
Jess
