More than 20,000 people along Florida's Gulf Coast were ordered to clear out Monday as Alberto - the very first tropical storm of the new hurricane season - unexpectedly picked up steam and threatened to come ashore as a hurricane.

Forecasters posted a hurricane warning for the Gulf Coast and a tropical storm warning from north of Daytona Beach to the Georgia-South Carolina line, saying Alberto could begin battering the coast early Tuesday. Gov. Jeb Bush signed a declaration of emergency allowing him to call up the National Guard and put laws against price gouging into effect.

Thank you for your kind prayers, we are fine. Winds never gusted above 30, I would say. There were white out conditions in the rain bands over the weekend and everything is wet, wet, wet! Yesterday we had an extremely low tide, very odd. Today looks like it will be a hazy/sunny day with winds 10-15.

Checking with NOAA and the National Weather Service this morning the Florida Keys are partially under a Small Craft Advisory. The second link is to a national map that I love, click on the colors on your part of the map and the advisories will pop up.

Am SOO relieved to hear nothing significant is going on! Thanks for the links so we can keep track of you and I do so wish I was in your "boat"!! My dear husband and I have very fond memories of boating when our only daughter was a wee one, then number 2 came into the picutre and I was too paranoid to try and boat with an infant AND a toddler, sigh...We hope to get back to it soon!!
