We are headed to Nebraska soon.
Oh, I just checked the forecast and it is now saying it will be in the mid-40s during the day. That sounds much better than low teens or less! I think mid-40s is very doable even for us. I was starting to worry that I wouldn't be able to get us warm enough.
So, I think we should all have a pair of thermals? What do you think? Do you have a favorite brand? I was too late to get more than one pair at Costco. Missed a great deal too!
I was a skier back in the day and know that we'll need to layer, layer, layer. I've got the younger ones set to play in the snow if that opportunity arises. I don't expect that we'll have to be outside much other than that, but I'd take any advice you wish to give.
I think with tights/leggings, boots, warm skirts and sweaters, the girl and I will be set for Mass, the monastery and seminary visit. Thoughts about the boys? They don't have boots except for snow boots. Just tennis shoes and then their church shoes? They have cords that I thought would be warmer than jeans.
I will stop now. Too much to think about. I wore flip flops today. :)

don't go overboard.. 40's is pretty warm if you're active.
We always let the boys wear snowboots to church during then winter in bitter cold or when there's snow on the ground.
I'd be sure you have a nice top under the sweaters so that you can lose a layer if you need to under the coat. The coat will block wind and weather and if it's warm enough you might find the sweaters are too much.
And cords are warmer than jeans in dry weather.. but corduroy is worse than denim if it gets wet.

We have some thermals, but mostly, my boys use pajamas as a layer. That might make more sense than investing in underwear, especially since it isn't supposed to be that cold.

I love Lands End silk long johns. They are light and super comfortable, but really help with warmth.

Yes, I was going to say - even the 40s, unless you are spending long stretches outside in morning or evening is not bad at all. 40s and windy would be a different story. If you are just in and out then very tolerable with just jeans and then layers on top. But glad to hear it is going to be even warmer. I heard it is supposed to be warm here all this week so that makes sense that Nebraska would be getting fair weather as well. Safe travels. Thinking of you and offering prayers.
