Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My daughter received hers last week, and tucked in the middle is a story about an 11 year old girl who was adopted out of foster care by her dad and now lives with her two dads.

I was just getting ready to renew the magazine for her, but now I am having serious seconds thoughts. This magazine goes out to girls as young as 6 or 8... that is a pretty heavy load to drop on a young girl.

I am so sad

Ouch. It does seem like it gets more and more difficult to keep this topic out of our homes. I have ordered my spices by mail/online for 20+ years and the company I order from has taken a similar stance, apparently assuming all customers will agree.

Perhaps other 4Real members can share suggestions for magazines that would be good replacements for AG?

I don't have alternative magazine suggestions but I do for the spices. A local friend told me about the company you mentioned and I suggested an alternative. So my suggestion is an awesome spice company founded here in Colorado, that is now located in about 16 states and they also run mail order. Great spices - love them.

Savory Spice Shop

This also saddens me.
I don't know of a direct substitute for the AG mag. I doubt it. I would look for something totally different in a magazine substitute , because otherwise you or your dd will be disappointed, comparing aesthetic quality or quantity of material. AG has been at it for a long time and has the financial ability...
Why not try a totally different genre of magazine? Nature, science, puzzles...

With 4 girls we of course had the magazine for a few years, but then the interest petered out and we moved on to a different mag for dd2. We subscribed to Nature Friend for 4 years and loved it, but now we've let that one run it's course also(it is very expensive for international subscr.) . Last month was the last issue for us. We'll see if there is something else out there for us.

I would love to find some type of doodle/craft magazine ... just art/crafts, not with all the stories that AG had. I think dd would like that a lot.

SIGH..another thing to research...

I found a magazine called Animal Tales that looks promising... full of fun animal pictures and articles. I bought a sample issue for dd's stocking.

I also asked her what she will miss most about AG magazine, and it is the pull out posters that are meant to be colored. After some research, I found that AG puts out books of these posters called Designed by Me; there are 4-5 of them. I bought one used on Amazon... it came the other day and looks perfect for dd.

Just wanted to update in case it helps anyone
