Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Recently several of us have mentioned an affinity for that wonderful, but now out-of-print, magazine Victoria. I was wondering if anyone has found anything similar since? Jennifer suggested Storybook Home in another thread. That sounds lovely and I plan to order a few issues soon.

I thought I would mention La Vie Claire which I bought recently and just got around to reading today. The Spring issue has beautiful photography and several interesting articles, including one on that Victoria favorite, Tasha Tudor, and another on Celia Thaxter's Island Garden. Many years ago it was a goal of mine to hook a Claire Murray rug. Hasn't happened yet, but her magazine made me remember!

Dawn, La Vie Claire looks like a fabulous magazine! Some of the articles listed seemed to be by writers I remember from Victoria too. I must order the issue with Tasha Tudor - can you say life long obsession? Most of my friends at a certain age had boy band posters on their bedroom walls while I had covers from Tasha Tudor books and my own floral border enhanced efforts...

Jennifer, we sound like two peas! Isn't she just the most amazing woman? The article is written by Tovah Martin, whom I believe did most of the TT articles that appeared in Victoria. Gosh, I do miss that magazine.

Guess What?!

A very lovely homeschool lady on the Magnum Opus Group is starting a new magazine that is in the same flavor as Victoria!!...I have her permission to share this with you!:
www.partridgehillmedia.com/hearthandhome

This is from Nissa:

If you remember "Victoria" magazine, Hearth and Home will
have a lot of that feel. It will be full (and I do mean FULL) of
articles about homemaking, hospitality, childrearing (including some
gentle pushing about homeschooling), also departments that appeal to
dads including projects that they can do for and with their homes
and families. There's just too, too much to explain. There will be
a travel feature, kind of a field trip, in each issue - this Winter,
we'll be covering a trip to the home of Louisa May Alcott, which is
not far from us here. There will be patterns, instructions, and
recipes also.

All of the things I tend to talk about anyway will be included in a
quarterly magazine - and with pictures!

This winter, we're going for a sleigh ride, preparing a big dinner
(menu and recipes will be included), visiting Concord, making
various gifts by hand, building a sleigh (and hitching a team for a
ride), setting up a schoolroom, putting out the woolens - all sorts
of things.

I'm a little excited (as if it didn't show). The best thing for me
is that it all comes so easily - just flows out. That, for me, is
absolute inspiration. Having Brian home and contributing to the
content is a HUGE blessing to us all - he's feeling inspired too.
That's how we figured it was God talking!

HTH!

Donna Marie, this magazine sounds wonderful!! I love all the article ideas she describes - The Orchard House is one of my *favorite* places in the world to visit. My grandmother and great aunt would take my cousin and me every summer and we'd have lunch in Concord and walk the Old North Bridge. I can hardly wait to read that article!

I just went to her website and sent in a query. Thank you so much for sharing this new resource!
