Well, it'll wear off your dd in a few days...with soap and water and scrubbing  . Good luck with the hardware. Hints, anyone?

I took sharpie off my mother's living room table with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I still can't believe it worked and didn't hurt the table.

I 2nd Magic eraser. Awesome!
It was the ONLY thing that took off perm. marker off doors and tables.
Dh is STILL complaining how I bought ALL those Sharpies in bulk at Sam's club.  We've used a lot of those Magic Erasers. 
However, I did notice we had a hard time getting the purple one off the toilet seat. . .it came off the porcelain. I think plastic is tricky. . .

I see Magic Eraser has already been mentioned.
I'm afraid to find out what kind of poison is in those things ... they work frighteningly well ....

I thought magic eraser worked not through cleaning agents but by their physical make-up---like fine sand paper. I didn't get the impression they were loaded with cleaners, like say, a Brillo pad or something (I may be wrong here). I surely hope they're not toxic. How do we know? I use them all the time.
Anyone?

Oh, Thank you!! I completely forgot about using Magic Eraser....the computer looks better than it did before and my dd...it's a good thing she has an immense fascination for soap and water...i found her IN the bathroom sink trying to scrub the marks off She is such an unusual girl...someone should tell her she is STILL supposed to be my baby! Such is the effect of having lots-o-brothers and sisters!

I was wondering about this too so I checked it out. Here's some info. from the P&G website:
-The ingredients in Magic Eraser have been safely and commonly used for many years in a wide range of household products.
- Formaldehyde is not and has never been an ingredient in Magic Eraser. One ingredient in Magic Eraser (formaldehyde-melamine-sodium bisulfite copolymer) contains the word "formaldehyde" in its chemical name. However, this ingredient is not formaldehyde and poses no health or safety risks. (Think of this name like "sodium chloride", which is table salt. Sodium by itself can be dangerous, but sodium chloride - salt - is safe.).
- Magic Eraser is considered non-toxic. As with any sponge-like product, when swallowed this product may block the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, we do advise to keep this product out of the reach of children and pets to avoid accidental ingestion - it is not a toy.
- It is possible that formaldehyde may be present in minute, trace amounts as a result of the manufacturing process. Even then, the amount present is significantly lower than standards established by governmental agencies and trade associations, and is actually less than what is found in indoor air.
- In fact, no ingredients in Magic Eraser are subject to any health-related labeling laws in North America or in the European Union.
Another site listed the ingredients as:
tertiary amines (ammonium salts), Sefose (fatty acids, iodine and peroxide), Methyl Esters (bromo carboxific acids) fatty acids, glycerine and alcohols are blended with just the right proportions to create a cleaning solution that doesn't require much moisture, but holds together long enough to produce thorough and complete cleaning AND slowly disintegrates without leaving a mess.
Unfortunately, the mixture of these chemicals makes the eraser not fit for every kind of surface. It can actually scratch or remove the paint on certain kinds of finishes.
EXTREME CAUTION
Please remember that this eraser contains a chemical that breaks down to AMMONIUM SALTS---- DO NOT MIX WITH CHLORINE BLEACH! Ammonia and chlorine are not meant to be combined.

WOW...thank you Michele! I was wondering about this....i was just joking about it to another mom'o many and she and I were hoping that nothing in this would make us glow in the dark....We did find that this is a great thing to buy in bulk before a party. I had several boxes of these and showed my company what they could do...they ended up trying out this product on 3 rooms of my house! Now THAT is something!
