Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

DH and I need a new series to watch via instant streaming when we feel like entertainment. We have enjoyed Downton Abbey, Sherlock, Foyle's War, Doc Martin, Lost, 24, Luther, Continuum, Battlestar Galactica, and Firefly over the years. What else is good right now?

Thanks!

It isn't free, but dh and I really enjoy Person of Interest.

We also liked Monk and enjoy Psych.

Murdoch Mysteries is fun with only one episode that really bothered me. I also really like Call the Midwife. I can't speak for dh because he doesn't do medical.

You might like Inspector Lewis. It is a good bit heavier than Foyle's War but has great characters. Same with George Gently.

Also not free, but we really like Castle. Since it stars Nathan Fillion, there are some fun Firefly references.

Jodie, did you hear that a Farscape movie is in the works?

(I started to recommend that one, too, but that show is So. Crazy. I'm never sure if I should mention it or not!)

I hadn't heard. Fun! I figure if people mention something like Firefly that other sci fi stuff might suit.

Oh and Heather... You did know that there's the movie Serenity that follows the series Firefly??

True, I just think Farscape is in its own class of crazy! For tamer sci-fi, we also really liked SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis. Never watched the Universe one, though.

I'll second or third many of the above and add:

Blacklist
Falling Skies
Once upon a time
Agents of Shield

Any newly discovered series since this thread? I've really appreciated the suggestions here!

We still enjoy Person of Interest, and the first 3 seasons are now on Netflix streaming, so if you were holding out, now is the time!

We've liked the new Hawaii 5-0, House MD, Burn Notice, Warehouse 13, Criminal Minds (but that's really dark), Jericho (though it was canceled with just the one season so not entirely finished though a lot managed to be wrapped up), Revolution (I liked the first season, not so much the second.. oh and they have MASH on Netflix.. that's fun.

WW1 mini series: The Anzac Girls
                                     ÊÊCrimson Field
WW2:       ÊÊ         Ê Homefires (there is one "tricky" episode)

Another british crime series called "Endeavour" about young inspector Morse is also good. I really like the characters.
