Hi, I'm fairly new here and haven't posted much - probably because I'm too busy reading all of the posts from the last year But I wanted to share this with you all. We are in the process of adopting a young sibling group from an orphanage in Liberia (West Africa). An friend of mine has set up an Usborne e-show to benefit our adoption. She will be donating all of her commission. We have been so blessed by all of the support we have recieved since we announced what we are up to. This is one gesture of support that I can share far and wide! If you have any interest in Usborne books please come browse!
THANKS!
Jennie Lou

Jennie Lou,
I'm not very good with directions...written or vocal but I'll give it a try.
In the block you're posting in you'll see a globe in the selection boxes above. If you position your cursor over it, it reads "Add Hyperlink".
Click on that.
Type in the wording you want then click "OK" and add the Hyperlink.
I've done it here for you:

I'll let you try next time.

Thanks Cay! I was trying that but I guess I was just trying to paste it in there rather than type it. Next time I'll try typing it all out.

Please forgive me if I sound a little dense...but what is an e-show?? Does this mean that anything I purchase from her site will benefit your adoption? I was actually planing to order some Usborne books this summer. How long do we have to order, and how do we go about it?
And by the way, congratulations! How wonderful that your family will be growing. Our family also recently grew though adoption.

Hi Shawna, Congratualtions on YOUR adoption!
If you follow the link that Cay set up for me above it will take you to our "e-show" page that my friend Teresa set up for us. She is donating all of her commission to our adoption fund. Any books ordered through that link will count. It's pretty simple. The sale goes through June 20 though I was thinking of having her extend it through the month of June so I have time to spread the word a little more. Right now we are gearing up for a massive rummage/bake sale fundraiser. It's hard to think much beyond that right now.
Thanks for considering ordering there. I can send a more detailed e-vite to anyone who wants to give me their e-mail address. I can even have a paper catalog sent to you. There is time for that still. I still prefer the old fashioned paper catalog.

Jennie Lou,
Have your Usborne book salesperson extend your show through July 25...
I, too, sell Usborne books, and the company usually offers free double books to their July and August hostesses...if you extend your show...you could get more books!
Check with your salesperson to confirm this...but that has been my experience!
I hope your show is totally AWESOME!

Maria, Thanks for the tip. I passed it on to our consultant and maybe we'll extend the e-show. We are not getting any books out of it for ourselves. The only "profit" we get will be sent to the Liberian orphanage!
Thanks again, Jennie Lou

Maria, I'm glad you asked! I love to talk about adoption and Liberia!!
They speak ENGLISH in Liberia! That is one of the aspects of Liberia that makes it a wonderful place for international adoption right now. They have just pulled through a long civil war and there are many children needing homes right now. The fact that they speak English makes it easier to adopt older children. It is also the cheapest international adoption we have seen and it is relatively fast. 4-6 months after you are referred a child. It is also a very transparent process right now.
I understand the orphanages there are different from the typical institutional settings in Asia and Russia. For example at the orphanage/agency we are using, each baby is carried on a Nanny's back daily. The hope there is that attachment will go smoother for a child who has been cared for in that way.
Anyway, you only asked what language they speak and here I've stepped up on my Liberian soap box!
Jennie Lou
PS. We could find no Catholic orphanages so we went with this one which we really like so far. They specialize in children under 5.

Jenny Lou,
Isn't Liberia the country that was founded by ex-slaves from the U.S.? I'm amazed that the babies are carried around by nannies. I would love it if you would keep us updated about your baby!
