Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Piggy-backing on the recent declutter threads: do you purge on you computer? And how do you go about doing it--do you build it into your other housekeeping routines? What are your guidelines for determining what to keep and what to let go?

I like the idea of scanning pictures, etc. and keeping them as electronic files, but does one just hold onto them forever??? That seems like a different kind of hoarding.

I am just curious what others do and thought I would ask!

Booksnbabes,

I'm assuming from your examples you are discussing files? like a modern equivalent of paper really, isn't it?

Every so often, read when the internal hard drive begins getting so full it slows down computer, I begin deleting in a big way. Since doing that the time before last I've also tried to be more consistent in where I file. So learning planning in homeschool folders, children's work in homeschool folders and sub-folders with their name. Household planning in seperte folders, menus have their own folders etc

I try to also keep on this as I go but not always good, so once or twice a year I now do a bigger clean up.

with photos I try to delete as I upload and then at the end of the month as I'm not the only one using the camera and some of the kids pics

Then there is software clutter, Cds and cds that mess hasn't really even been tackled, why do we even have old floppy's, are they even usable??

Don't even get me started on hardware clutter. Recently I got quite strict with dh and the boys, that all computer carcasses and parts had to be assessed and taken to the e-waste dump, if non usuable. I swear if they were cars we would look like a car wreckers, oh wait.. he has three old cars sitting out in the paddock for parts!!

Oh, I can only imagine how it will begin to look as the boys' toys and hobbies grow!

Adding computer clean-up to the list of "someday when I have the time..." projects.

Occasionally I find myself sitting at the computer flipping through sites because there's nothing new to read and I don't want to get up and do anything yet. That's always a good time to do a bit of clean up.
