Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hello and a cheerful good morning to all! I'm racing today so need to be quick. I know you understand

Our family is regrouping and "refreshing" as Jen would call it    In one day, yesterday, I finally couldn't take it anymore and I finally finished getting my home office in order    I will post some pics at my blog within the coming week, once I get all the final touches completed. This all came about from "flipping my to-do" list (talked about in last week's post about procrastination, because...we moms tend to put off our own stuff to tend to the needs of others which is fine and good until you can't take it anymore and say ENOUGH I want the home office done NOW .

At my blog I wrote about Boys, empathy, and kindness This was by far, the most challenging topic I've attempted (going into it I thought it would be a breeze ) but it was worth trying. It has a link to other Scoop.it stuff. I think you'll like this one 5 easy ways to work smarter, not longer

So let's see... any thoughts on boys, empathy, kindness? Any goals to "refresh" this week? Have a great one and know that I'm rooting for you    .

ETA: Forgot to add that if you have older kids and/or just want to keep up with current music, Ian and I are blogging about that topic at my blog. We share the "lyric video" so you can check out the words. Just click on Music Video tag on the right column to pull them up. Safe and Sound is our most recent. What music are you listening to?

Love,

Just passing through here quickly. I wanted to mention a couple of good resources on boys in general

1. Circe Institute audio and also in their Magazine (can be found online) - What Are We Doing To Our Boys (originally by James Daniels, with the Mom's view redux by Cindy Rollins) Really excellent articles.

2. On the subject of brothers and their siblings - anyone watch the Unsung Heroes video about the brother protective over his disabled sister - on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PM6uX4yGp4
Really moving. I am also very moved when I see the how kind and protective my boys are to their sisters.

(edited for typo)

Ohh...empathy and kindness for my boy. In trying to lift him up from the mindset of a child I typically lack a LOT of empathy and kindess for him and yet he's my only son, my "baby" boy. So until he's asleep and quiet, that's when my heart is refilled for another day, another ray of hope that tomorrow will be better. Maybe I will be more empathetic and kind. He needs it, I know he does...I just wish it was so easy to give.

Kathryn, sometimes we can show empathy by simply putting our challenges on a shelf while we watch a movie of their choosing...or listen to a song they enjoy...or make a dessert together. I can see from your other postings that your son is displaying very difficult behaviors which do need to be addressed, but as they get older, I do think there are times to just reconnect via something...nice. I'm rooting for you :)

Love,
