Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Sending warm wishes to everyone reading! 1 week to the big day!

Our big excitement is that Devin and Michael returned home yesterday. They'll be with us a few weeks. I felt the baby kick. Really...doesn't get better than this!

I know there are other posts her about returning college kids and I want to hear all about them! I also want to hear about any other family or friends that you are welcoming home for the holidays. Or are you the one/s being welcomed? Tell me your stories and your tips for hospitality!

I'm still posting at my blog: Family Answers Fast and curating content at Scoop.it. Helps me stay calm .

Devin's baby shower is tonight!

Love,

I have a few moments on the computer while on hold with T-mobile so I popped over here!

How exciting to have Devin and Michael and feel the baby! I'm beyond happy for your family!

Our college boys are here and my 97 year old grandmother too. My parents will be here in a few days. So we are really enjoying the time together!

Feeling the baby already! My the time has flown, can't believe she is that far along already. So are you talking what 'grandma' name you will be?

Janette, Lovely to have your boys and g'ma there.

Well one of my College kids is home and we're loving having a laid back time with her. And my College boy will be home on Sunday. He has been on a month long retreat and told me last Sunday he is soo missing us. So counting the hours till I have them all together again.

My college boy returned home last Saturday and my oldest son will be home today! My husband is going to town to grocery shop and pick him up at AMTRAK station today.

We bought a Yamaha Clavinova a couple of days ago and it is supposed to deliver today!   Clavinovas are digital pianos but a huge step up from the cheap keyboard we have been getting by on -- they have weighted keys and softness control, etc -- and more affordable than the equivalent quality acoustic piano.

Enjoy your grown kids, everyone.   Angie, feeling your grandchild move, that is so exciting ! I am happy for you.

I know, that's so cool! Congratulations, Angie!

My college girl got home last night, and brought a coldy/flu-y illness with her. It was a pretty miserable travel day -- we got cheapo tickets that took her all over the place, all day long, before she finally got to Charlotte last night. Not fun under the best of circumstances, but that kind of day, when all you want is to curl up in your own bed . . . Poor girl!

But she's home now, so we can take care of her and also pray that none of the rest of us, especially those of us who have to sing for Christmas Masses, comes down with it.

Best wishes to everyone enjoying visits from grown children (and everyone else, too)!

Sally

My big boys are home!!     We had quite the loud dinner table of lots of stories....we needed a “talking stick” with all of the commotion!
It is such a blessing to hear all about their new, young adult lives away from the nest....Lily is soaking them all up!

My college girl is home It is just awesome to catch up and see all the pictures and videos and hear all the stories. Dh and I drove to get her today and we got to meet many of her good friends and see how settled and happy she is. And we will be hosting a group of friends sometime during winter break - we look forward to getting to know them. It's funny - her going to college has also opened up the world to us - and I am having fun getting to know the parents and families of her friends.
It is lovely to have a full house again - and we have some marathon cookie baking sessions ahead of us tomorrow. As well as Christmas movies, board games and much more.........

Slightly OT - Willa, it is a small world. Your dd lives next door to my daughter's good friend (who loves off campus locally) and several of dd's "townie" friends know your son in law. My dd is hoping to meet your daughter (whom she has long read and admires as a writer)

Our son is home, and my husband is on the road tonight, also heading home. I'm so thankful for this timely spell of good weather!

We stayed up until 2:00 a. m. talking after #1 Son got home last night; he was just here at Thanksgiving, but we all missed each other very much.

I am having fun planning meals for the next two weeks, as #1 Son has mentioned several times how much he misses home-cooked meals. Music to a mother's ears!

What a joyful time, Angie - enjoy your returned nestlings over the holidays...
And rejoicing in all of the returned young people to their families.

Our familial experience will be really different this year. Our oldest got married over the summer. They are spending Christmas this year with her family closer to their home, so it will be without him (and her) for us. As these new families are formed it can really be a change - sharing between extended families. Also my mom, who has been spending Christmas with us for several years, is going to my sister's this year.

So on our end it will be a really different experience. We are now going to be hosting what was dubbed as "orphan Christmas." Our other adult son who just graduated from FUS, is back living at home. A classmate of his has also been living here with us for a few months, too, and he isn't going home for Christmas. My son also invited two young ladies that they graduated with who are working Christmas shifts as the newbies, so can't go to their homes until after Christmas.   So that is our calling this year - to be home away from home for some other young people.

My college girl came home last Thursday. Eldest daughter will be driving home from Chicago tomorrow. Please pray for her and her passengers, they'll be hitting bad weather in Ohio.
God bless,
Mary-NY
