This may seem like a weird conversation, but hang in there with me.
I'm not a morning person! I'm ok with that and I don't pretend to be a morning person. Now there are a few morning when I get going earlier in the morning and really our days are better that way. I want to get up and going earlier in the morning, but I can't get my body to do it.
Dh gets up in the early 6 o'clock hour and leaves the house just before 7. We usually tells me good-bye at ten till 7 and I'm still dead asleep. It seems I always wake up just as he is coming out of the bathroom walking over to me. It's weird! I sleep through his alarm and him getting dressed and all his morning routine! I can hardly wake up enough to tell him bye. I've asked him to wake me earlier and if he does I don't remember it. My alarm goes off at 7 and I immediately fall back asleep after hitting snooze. I'm not just relaxing thinking about getting up but I start to dream again in those seven minutes. I can't seem to wake up enough to get up. The earliest I can pull myself out of bed is 7:30.
I would love to get up when dh does to have some extra time with him. I typically go to bed in the 10 o'clock hour. It takes me forever to fall asleep and I suffer from insomnia occasionally too. I assume this is why I'm hard to wake in the morning.
Any ideas?

You sleep through your dh's stuff because you know even when asleep that it's normal noises.
Set your alarm for 7:30.
Get yourself consistently getting up at 7:30.
Going off Daylight Saving is coming..
Just use the time until then to get used to getting up at 7:30 very consistently.. then you'll "fall back" on the clock.. so you should be able to get up at 6:30 at that point.

Dh and I have discovered that we are different in how we sleep, I sleep heavier in the earlier part of the night, and can usually get up more easily earlier than he can. Whereas, he has trouble sleeping at first in the night, but then sleeps heavily when I'm ready to get up. Sounds like you and your dh are like us, just opposite of how we are.
This actually worked to our benefit when the twins were newborns, as he would more easily get up and bring them to me when I was dead asleep in the first half of the evening, and then when he was dead in the wee hours of the morning I could get up with them.
This opposite ways of sleeping hours may come to good someday when you have teens, as you will be up to staying up when dh has to get to sleep to get up early.

FWIW. The only time I could exercise many, many, many years ago...before kids and husband, while working corporate schmorporate job was before work. SO, I proceeded to get up at 4, yes,4 am to,run, in the dark. After about 2 weeks of being consistent, and in the beginning it was really hard, I found my body got used to it, and it got easier. Even easier to actually run while I thought I was half asleep. I actually woke easier and was ready to go out, even in the dark and cold, and I found I enjoyed it. I keep wanting to try again but I cannot get to bed. I was in bed at 9pm-no choice i was falling asleep at 8:30 Now with a teen and ten year old it seems I have less time to sleep midnight seems the earliest I can get to my wonderful, comfy bed. Anyhow, worth a try.

Okay, that article from Auntie Leila was EXACTLY what I needed!
Thanks for linking it!
I struggle soooooo much with waking up in the morning! In fact just 2 days ago my FB status was "I am SO NOT a morning person." My kids know I am not a morning person and its hard for them too. My girls aren't morning people either but my boys, well they are a whole other story. I have finally convinced my middle son that 6:30 is the earliest you can go and speak to the other members of the sleeping family!
It's too much! Anyways, following to see what you night people do to make morning bearable!

I like that article too. She recommends a shower first thing and I agree that taking showers will help to wake you up, but I hate going to bed dirty and usually take mine before bed.
Maybe the time change will help!
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Keep them coming!

I liked the article. I am one of those people but I decided a long time ago that I was getting up, pregnancy or new baby, sick or not to make dh's lunch. I knew he'd make something inadequate or not eat so I made it every day. When I was pg with our tenth baby he wouldn't let me make it anymore, but wanted me to stay in bed. I was not missing one minute with him so I still got up. We talk while he drives (Bluetooth) and I would not miss this for anything, so that is how I have done it.
My dc wake up early, so we just start our day then, and have an earlier bedtime. But on weekends I don't get up as early, usually we get up because they aren't very quiet.
