Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I took my boys to Church this morning as it was Our Lady of Mount Carmels day. And I attend Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish. The kids were SO good. I as beside myself. When it came time to receive Communion I didn't want to even disturb them. So I snuck out the row in front of me. Oh what a mistake that was. The littlest one detected I was gone, (he is almost 3) and threw a temper tantrum. I could NOT console him. I offered to take him out. He was UNDER the pew in front of us. I could not get him out. If I tried he screamed LOUDER. I was utterly embarrassed and just wanted to crawl under the pew myself.
When it was over the woman in front of us asked him what was wrong. As soon as I started to say it she guessed.. I felt awful. As we were leaving another gentleman stopped us to tell me my son had a lovely singing voice.....
Oh what a morning!

Jill--I am sure Our Lady smiled this morning. Keep going back as much as you can, so much grace, even when they are stinkers!

Thank you Laura. I felt bad for our Priest. There are days I just want to apologize.... Today was one of those days. I will. I have been going atleast a few times a week but slowed down as I was having a hard time getting some boys up in the morning. Or to bed the night before for that matter.

Jill,
this is what our sainthood is made of!
Good thing that your stinker has horns to hold that halo on or he might loose it.

Oh, yeah. I've had a child loudly and vociferously refuse a birthday blessing offered to him at the end of a daily Mass, because Fr. happened to know it was his birthday (which is the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, so I was just thinking about that yesterday, and cringing again).

Nope, you're not alone. And my loud blessing-refuser was not 3 but 10. Talk about not wanting to face Fr for the next few weeks . . . sigh. It's really really hard to explain why your kid has a basically inexplicable objection to totally unobjectionable things . . . Anyway, I feel your pain.

Sally

One of mine went through a stage of refusing a blessing each Mass Father took it good naturedly but became determined to try to slip in a blessing

But I really think the public refusal would have been sooo embarrassing.
