Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Yesterday I subjected my poor dc to a trip to the store looking for a Mother's Day gift for my mother. I never know what to buy, and I usually wind up giving her a gift card.

We came home empty-handed, but today in the mail my answer arrived:
Franciscan honey

I thought that was such a neat idea- sending my mom honey and at the same time helping the Franciscans. I know the honey probably will not arrive in time for Mother's Day, but that is OK. And I have never ordered from them before, so I can't attest to the reliability of the website.

But I still love this idea. My mom likes to bake and uses honey often.
My dc liked this idea, too. Yay.

Melinda,

What a great idea! I always get my mother coffee for presents, because she is hard to please and I know she will drink coffee.every.day!!!

We have a few fantastic local roasters, but sticking with the Catholic themed gifts Larry Bean's supports Catholic Relief Services!!!

They have a blend specifically for CRS, but I don't see it on their website. I am sure if you called they would send it to you. Regardless, if you follow the link above your purchase of any of their blends will support CRS!

I hope that helps someone out for a good gift!

Betsy-

Which coffee do you recommend? My mom also has a birthday coming up at the end of the month. I think she drinks mainly decaf. I am not a coffee drinker, so I'm at a loss here

Seignadou Soaps
and
Mystic Monks Coffee

are just 2 options to find neat gifts for special occasions.

I also found a link to a monastery selling honey, but not the one you posted Melinda. I can't seem to find it now.

I totally forgot about Mothers' Day. I better get going.
When is it, by the way?

Yes, a great product - the coffee monk - the one in charge of the roasting operation - was homeschooled and graduated a couple years ago. He is the son of one of my good friends.

We've also enjoyed Saint Basil Coffee and given it as gifts in the past. We stopped giving these sorts of things for MIL because she won't use the "nice coffee," saving it for when you come to visit . It is the same with the nice candy, chocolate, etc..., so we only send fruit now

I usually only use their Decaf Espresso Blend, because I love Lattes at night . BUT, I did take their tour once and they said that many people who only drink regular coffee can't tell the difference when they are drinking their decaf because of their process of decaffeinating is preserves more of the taste and is better for you. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices, but after reading through the Decaf options I would probably choose Sammy Decaf Jr. Blend

As for the regular coffee, I haven't had any that I think are bad! But I do like Cowboy Blend, 3 Moon Peru !!!!! and Woodstock Blend

I hope that helps....
