Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Didn't want to hijack the previous blogging question but I need some advice regarding my blog. I haven't updated it for quite a while. Life just got so busy and I never felt that I had many readers anyway. It was just sort of my ramblings.
Sometimes I think of things I would like to blog about though. I can't decide if I should start with a whole new blog or revamp what I already have.
Silly random question, I know, but wwyd?

Sometimes I find I can't write much for my blog, too. My writing seems to go in spurts even though I have so much to post. I've thought about revamping it, but I have even less time to do that! I've toyed with the idea of just doing quick posts like the "five favorite things" or "pretty, funny...." or something like that.

Perhaps you can ask yourself, what is the purpose of your blog? If it is to keep an online scrapbook of family memories/homeschooling, etc. it probably doesn't matter how often you blog. Almost any entry will be something you can recall and remember later.

Perhaps say a few prayers, and ask God what direction He would like you to go with your blog?

Blessings,
Cheryl

Becky, I am sort of in the same boat. I want to update my blog and really start posting again, but I want it to look more like “me” and not some template. I thought about doing Wordpress, but holy cow, that felt a bit overwhelming. Ginny Shellar’s blog is beautiful, that is sort of the simple look I am going for.....less graphics on the background, more pics and posting. I’ll updated you if I find a solution. I didn’t want to “wait” for the perfect blog before I start up again. I am forever grateful that I posted all that I did through so much of our medical trails the last few years. WOW....I can’t believe I wrote some of that stuff, so glad it is there.

Just do it....don’t be paralyzed by finding the perfect one now...just start to make changes as you go, and if you change platforms, there are ways to transfer your data from what I hear....that’s what the in-residence tech advisor/son told me....

Becky, I just peeked at your blog and read the camping posts....wow!!! What great ideas!! Jim and the boys have camped on and off for the last several years, but Lily and I just joined them a few years ago. We have only gone on a few whole family camping trips. I have so many new ideas reading your blog posts! I love the binder idea!! I am gong to start planning some in-state campouts now...sheesh, around here, those campsites fill up very quickly! We did manage to snag a spot same day at Sleeping Bear Dunes last year, I LOVED that place. It’s when Michigan became more “home” to me, I just love MI summers....which is a good thing because MI winters are a bit much.

I don't blog but I would think of your blog as short of your family journal so I wouldn't start a new one.     Just my 2 cents.

Well Becky as one of your readers I'd just revamp, not start a new blog. Blogs can go in a different direction if that is what you want.?? Oh and start a paper list, any time you think of things to write about jot down, then later when you're in the mood, have time, you may or may not use one of those ideas.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, and Erin and 4ladsmom, thanks for reading! I do miss blogging. I haven't written a post since last fall. I especially miss the fact that I didn't blog about some of the happenings that occurred around here lately. I do look at my blog as sort of a written record of what is happening in our lives. Sometimes I get caught up in the fact that I really don't have many readers so why bother?, but that's really not my purpose for blogging in the first place.

So I'll just continue on from where we are. Since I don't build scrap books for my kids anymore, I think this might be the next best thing. Sort of an on line scrapbook, as I've heard blogs called at times.

I like the suggestion of keeping a list of blog topics. It seems like they hit me at random times, usually when I'm away from the computer. Then when I have a minute or two I draw a blank!

Well, off to get started with our schooling. Testing week around here! Fun, fun!
