Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Dh and I talked about rearranging the furniture in the living room. So off he goes to jury duty today and I get the inspiration to surprise him. Well, I moved the furniture alright, and when I uncovered the wall with it's peeling wallpaper, etc, I decided to just pull it all off.

It actually came off very well. There is still paste on the wall but I can deal with that. When we bought this house 11 years ago almost every single room had wallpaper, now only about 1/2 of them do, so we have taken off our share of poorly put-on wallpaper.

Anywho, it is all off and now I'm wondering what I want to do next. The wall has some peeling paint, so I don't know if I'm talented enough to smooth that out and paint - I may just have to re-wallpaper. It is just one and a half walls of the living room (the main room you see when you walk in the house.)

So hit me with your favorite decorating and home how-to websites!

And pray that dh is not too mad - we had *planned* on doing this, someday, but in his mind there are 1001 things he wanted to do *first*. LOL, he's an engineer. He thinks first, second, third... I'm a global thinker that starts 5 projects at once and drives my dh crazy.

I have been in the fix-it-up mood myself!
When I took down the wallpaper in our bathroom, I swore I would never do wallpaper again. However, I saw a really cool border that went so well with our paint job, so I guess never say never!!
I don't know about websites, but I'll tell ya...Lowe's is my friend!! I have spent many an evening there with bookoos of paint samples and how to books.
With peeling paint, what I have done and I have no idea if it's right or not, but I just fill it with compound or putty. Let dry, then sand and paint. It has always come out fine..you just have to make sure you don't just pile it on, and you have to sand it really well. My husband cringes when I have all the paint supplies out...
I don't know if this helps. I'm currently working on our dining room and did just this. I have to find time to sand it. If I could just get off this thing......
