How are you all since last week?
We're heading into our busy spring baseball season! Great news to share; Aiden made varsity as a junior and will likely start at shortstop. Hooray!
Here's my new blog post, Stick a candle in it. Hope you enjoy it!
We have a big container with all our Valentine's day stuff in it. It is super sweet to pull out valentines made long ago, see the sweet handwriting of little hands.
Our Valentine's Day dessert will be pot de creme. The video includes innuendo, so may be best watched away for kids who could "get it."
On that sweet note, I need to run! Meeting friends at the park on a gorgeous sunny day. Praise God!
A blessed Lent to all <3
Love,

We were up in Oregon at the beginning of the week; my husband is contracted with an OR game company, so travels up there once a month or so, staying with my two oldest boys who live up there. Oldest works up there (computer game designing like his dad) and second soon is at college in the same town.
We drove back down on Tuesday, about 11 hours! Listening to Great Courses lecture series on Faith and Reason in the Middle Ages. The rest of the week mostly about unpacking, laundry, recovering from colds, and getting back into the swing of regular homeschooling.
We forgot Valentine s Day, coming right after Ash Wednesday... Bad mom.... the weather up here in the CA mts has been incredibly warm and sunny.

We went and saw a movie and ate chocolate with way too much espresso in it! Pretty regular day- still trying to get in the groove and be motivated in the Februrary blah weather. Went skating on the river on Friday which was a boost!

We try not to go out for Valentine's Day...too commercial. We went out to dinner with a newly-divorced friend on another night instead.
It's been another crazy week at my house, and today my anime-loving family members are off to a con for some fun with like-minded people. I'm thankful my husband shares this hobby with my daughter; she's totally safe with her tall, strong dad around!
Our Ash Wednesday homily was great...it is wonderful to start this holy season with inspiration from our devout and faithful priests.

Busy week, which is unusual around here and causing a bit of stress. Don't know how everything landed on the same week!
We had a homeschool Valentine Party with some local Catholic moms at the library. What a great time! The kids were able to play and exchange cards, plus eat some healthy snacks.
Catholic Girls club for dd, American Heritage Girls, and a library science program that was really neat. Lots of elephant's toothpaste, fog rings, non-aquatic baths, and they even created miniature skate parks out of shirt boxes. I also started my yearly Lenten prayer group on Friday mornings.
We had a brief, but accumulating snow this week. The kids hurried up outside, made a snowman, then in a couple hours everything was melted. We have the strangest weather sometimes.
Thankful that this weekend will be spent cleaning up the house after this whirlwind week! No commitments - yea!
Hope you all have a great coming week!

Busy is an understatement. Cub Scouts are coming up on the Blue and Gold banquet which means I have to get awards ordered plus we invite the Boy Scouts and they have a Court of Honor too so I have to order those as well
Lacrosse is starting. We have a volunteer for a girls lacrosse coach (girls have been playing the boys game) exciting.. been browsing the equipment. I should get to meet him on Sunday (pick up non contact lacrosse in the afternoon) and have a better idea of what he's expecting so I can get my order in. But I may still have one on the high school team plus I still have my boys on the youth lacrosse team.
And our Church does Stations of the Cross followed by soup and bread suppers on fridays during Lent.
And my week has just been one thing after another. This Sunday will be very unusually crazy. I have a short meeting for a Board of Review for one of the scouts, then lacrosse, then a meeting at our Church about the Life Teen program and then a committee meeting for the scouts. I already let my oldest know she's in charge of Sunday dinner
But that will ease up here after Scouts gets all on track.
I can always look on the positive side. I don't have any kids in the Hunter's Safety class that is this week too.
So.. thats why dh and I had our "stay in" date last Saturday. My mom and nephews will be here for a few hours tonight so my sister and her dh get their date night.
We did have fun on Valentines Day though. DH had a meeting out of town but my mom wanted to celebrate so we went there for an ice cream cake she'd bought. My girls made sugar cookie valentines to give everyone and grandma gave little goodie bags with fancy pencils (or whirligigs for the little ones) and a little box of chocolate.
