It has been freezing here in AZ. The weather has been my BIG topic of conversation this week . Freezing. In the middle of the day. Just plain wrong . Hope your week has been cozy!
Devin and I went to a huge Bridal Show this past weekend. Wrote about it at my blog. One thing I didn't mention was that I was able to say, "No thank you, our priest will be presiding at our church" when "ministers" of every stripe offered me their flyer. How unfortunate to shop for a minister like one shops for flowers or DJs . We're so grateful Devin will be married by the same priest who blessed our home when we arrived in Phoenix
So what's new with you?
Love,

It's cold here too! We are doing fine. I spent the whole weekend second guessing all my school decisions! I ended back where I started at when I started praying about it. Hey, it's January! I'm usually burned out at this point, so that we are doing good and I'm planning for next year is a good thing.
Bad news: trip to the dentist!

Finally I catch a Wednesday shout out!
Life is CRAZY here!!!! We have had so much going on and I am at my wits end with trying to balance it ALL! The baby is a whopping 13 and 1/2 lbs at 7 weeks which translates to " Momma is feeding ALLLLLL the time" He is such a big and hungry boy and I spend my life under a newborn wondering if we are ever going to have a clean house again!!!!
On the other hand, LOVE being under a newborn nursing since this was the stuff of dreams just a few years ago. I really thought I would never nurse a baby again so I am totally enjoying loving on him.
We are MELTING here. Where is my month of winter? All those beautiful cardigans I made for the baby will never get worn if the average temp is 78 degrees for the whole of winter! I want some freezing PLEASE!
School is.....going. Read alouds, Math and basics for the time being is pretty good. I finally realized that we won't be getting our usual month off at Easter but Im okay with that since we took such a very long time off at Christmas and are just now getting back into the school week.
Say a prayer for a very special intention for our baby's godfather. He needs some prayers right now.
Off to.... yep, feed the baby.

Freezing pretty much sums it up for me- just froze my toes off walking from the car to the violin teacher. It is a nice -29 degrees right now in the peg!!

We are supposed to get snow tomorrow. Or not. No weather forecaster can say for sure where the snow line will be, which means we have to prepare for up to 6" of snow and may not get any.
I started a noncredit online writing class today - it's only 6 weeks long, so I hope I can find time to do this AND get ready for my second semester of Bio Lab at co-op. My students love dissecting (!), so it's more of a matter of waiting until our planning meeting to see how much the families want to spend on specimens. There are other things we can do, of course, but I need to wait in order to plan. I'm good at planning. Not so good at waiting.

Oh we've got freezing covered well here too.. though Kristie wins brrrrrr. Mostly we range between -12 and 12.. though today we made it up to the upper 20's.
Got to go have a nice chat with my mom about some blackpowder era (1780-1840) events.. one coming up soon (we'll just do the one day thing with the weather) and the other we chatted about should be a blast.. it's a women's only event that we won't be able to go to this year but we're going to plan for next year and her and me and my 3 older girls will all go and leave dad home with the boys (and one little girl).

We had a perfectly warm, sunny, cloudless day here yesterday... around 75.
It was lovely. But it won't last...
I am shivering reading about -12 to 12. The nerve!!!

Not much to post here. We're like Nancy -- snow maybe yes maybe no here. 1 to 3? Not sure. Praying it moves so we do get more. The boys NEED it!
I've been sick, and very little pushes me over the edge. Week 3 and not getting better. School is almost non-existent and I'm just wondering how to merge into emergency mode when I don't have a big plan. I'm feeling very rattled right now.
And my iPhone was stolen on Monday. So we're trying to figure all that with replacement. After being victimized, seems our carrier is not very sympathetic to this. Time for a new carrier?

They are actually calling for snow here in my part of NC, too. Woohoo! We didn't get any at all last year so we are all psyched!
Unfortunately, it was over 70 degrees just a few days ago so this weather roller coaster is doing crazy things to those with allergies, etc.
My son in college in VA is hoping to see some real snow in his territory (Ashland, VA). They had snow several times last year when we had none...
I've got a pot of vegetable beef soup simmering on the stove now and we're going to get the sheep and chickens ready for the weather today...
JoAnna, trying to keeping up a bit more over here lately...

We had about 2 feet of snow on the ground until last week, but now only a few "plow" piles are all that remain. The temps are back into the 20's so I'm sure the snow will start piling up again soon.
Hubby took Amy back to Christendom this past weekend...the weather was so nice down there he now wants to move. I'm am going to miss Amy, her vacation was much too short. (She is a great help around here, especially with the littles school work)
We have gotten off to a pretty good start with school after an extended Christmas break. We are having a lot of fun making a lapbook about Australia. I keep having to add folders to it because of all the info the kids want to include in it. I will put up a blog post about it when it is complete.
Mark has recovered from the flu, and thankfully, no one else has come down with it...praise God.
I hope everyone has a great week.

Is it still Weds?! Congrats Angie on your daughter's engagement. I must have missed that! Interesting as we attended a very non-traditional, non-religious wedding ceremony with a woman presiding (without kids but they saw photos) and I mentioned to my DD now 14 about getting married IN the church BY a priest and both big kids have read enough in the bulletin each week to know they're supposed to contact the church 1 year prior to marriage for classes.
Anyway, we did get some snow on Tuesday in good ole North Texas so that was exciting...for the couple hours it lasted and then melted but it's still pretty cold.

Not Wednesday anymore, but here are some pictures from Wednesday. They were calling it an "ice storm" but we never lost power or anything, so it wasn't much of an event. Just cold.

I heard that the meteorologists in Australia had to increase the range on the colored maps to make them adequate for the hottest temps! It sounds just miserable!

Okay, I wasn't going to post because it had been 70 this past weekend....but were are suppost to get snow tonight. It's been two years since it snowed here so my kids are going to loose their minds.
All the schools are at least 2 hours delayed (on the forcast) so I am following suit and canceling school tomorrow!

We are finally out of the deep freeze here and this Wednesday was 50 after hovering in single digits for the previous week.
Our week was sort of back to normal. We restarted our two co-ops this week after our Christmas break.
Angie,
I loved your blog post on the Bridal Show. - Who else could find a comparison to being a baseball spectator... Sounds like you are having a lot of fun and enjoying this special time with your daughter. Can't wait until I have a daughter to do it with - a son, and one who lives hundreds of miles away where the wedding will be, doesn't make it feasible to be much involved. It's very different. Hey, and we don't even have a date yet. Was maybe going to be August this year, then in December we were told it got bumped to May '14 and then a couple weeks ago he said possibly back to Sept '13 and the latest I've heard through my mom who heard it through my brother is it might be Oct. '13

Jennifer, I am sorry about your being sick and your phone.
I haven't been on hear much lately as we have transitioned into the 21st Century and it has taken me awhile to acclimate myself. I think we were one of the last people in North America to still be on dial up but two weeks ago we went wireless. I now have an iphone and a laptop. I know many of you have had one or both for many years but this is a big deal for us.
I was hoping that life would calm down after Christmas but it's not. I am doing a ladies Bible study on Ann Voskamp's One Thousand Gifts. During this week's study, she said on the DVD that hurry empties the soul. This struck deep and hard. This is how I have been feeling lately: being so busy and always in a hurry has emptied my soul. I need to think on this a bit more.
Weather-wise, we are quite warm here for this time of year: 1 below Celsius. In our neck of the woods, this is a heat wave.
