Friends, on Monday November 19 our family started Fall Cleaning (Spring Cleaning but in the fall ) and Holy Guacamole, it's kicking me! So I regret missing last week's Shout Out and being late this week, but I know you all know what it's like to be in the middle of a family project that needs to be done well, done now, and...well done already! So tomorrow, Friday, at midnight, we will be done ONE WAY OR ANOTHER! Please pray for us...as I pray for you and your "heart of the home" projects, especially with Advent right around the corner
Latest blog post: Mastery as motivation
And a few new FAVE cleaning products:
Pro Shot Industrial Re-Newing Floor Restorer And Finish Petrochemical-Free Formula
Pro ShotIndustrial Re-Newing Concentrated Power Cleaner and De-Soiler
Shadazzle!
So that's it. Pathetic but true
Love,

I forced myself to wait until after Thanksgiving to take down all of the autumn-themed, leaves and pumpkins decor even though it seemed ridiculous since we've had snow on the ground and no leaves in sight for 2 months now. So glad to be able to put up wintry-themed decor so it actually matches our seasons here!
On the school front we are settling in for a serious "high tide" for a couple of weeks so we can take a long Christmas holiday off guilt-free.
Ds (17) takes the SAT this saturday. Prayers appreciated! He is super nervous about it since it is the first standardized test (or any test, really) he has taken since I pulled him out of school in grade 3! I think he will do fine, but he is not as confident and SO much is riding on it. Too much if you ask me!(a rant for another day)
Looking excitedly forward to 23yo dd coming home from college for the holiday!!!
And shopping...

Sending prayers for your son's SAT, Theresa! And I so get your happiness...my son comes home Dec. 19, and I can't wait! (Plus, he is the only one in the family who knows how to assemble our big artificial Christmas tree!)
We are praying mightily for Dancing Daughter...please join us in prayer! Her regional championships are this weekend. She's already a champion in my book, because she set some ambitious goals for herself this summer and has achieved them, one by one. (Mom brag alert!!!) Most importantly, to me, she's become a role model for the younger dancers, and she takes that very, very seriously, which I just love. Of course, she is hoping to do well this weekend, and I know she would appreciate your prayers that God's will be done all weekend long.
I'm afraid dance moms don't have time to clean house until the championships are over...sigh...or work, either...

Oh still recovering from traveling at Thanksgiving.. not only do we travel but we shop and we get stuff given to us.. I finally gave up on the fabric I bought.. and just kept it in the big duffle bag we use for the cargo carrier
AND getting ready to do Thanksgiving again combined with a BIRTHDAY PARTY. Good thing I already had the presents bought/acquired months ago
Shopping was fun when I had time to enjoy it. Too much of it was hurry hurry hurry.. limited time and we're of course delayed at every turn by having to hunt out where a department is in the store and then where the item is in that department.. frustrating But we spent as long in Bath and Body works as my nose could handle and managed to take advantage of their buy 3 get 3 free sale.. got perfumes for my oldest two girls and a lotion for the next one down (too young imo for perfume.. even light, young scents) and then I got a lotion each for my mom and sister and I got one of the body butter thicker lotions for myself.. I have a perfume I spent a long time deciding on and I don't really like switching it around.
And the goodwill store.. oh for another 2 hours there.. but then I would probably have spent way too much.. but I was able to get some nice dressy dresses for my poor dress deprived girls for $5-7.. dresses that would go for $50+
But the good news is that the other week when I had a borrowed paper cutter (big one with the swing arm) here for scouts.. I got out the paper for our Advent chains and got those done in record time so not only was it easy.. but I've got it all ready to go.

Praying for your son, Theresa - our oldest takes the HSPT (high school placement test for Catholic high schools around here) tomorrow, and then dd #2 takes another standardized test (same reason, different grade) next Saturday. Yikes. They are not happy about it - both tests seem harder than I remember the SATs to be! (I'm sure they're not, but they seem hard for a rising 10th and 8th grader.) I get the "so much is riding on it" feeling. *pulling myself together*
Not much else is new -- it's "all test prep, all the time" here until next week.

Oh, Praying for your son, Theresa!
These tests have become too much- when I took it the guy sitting behind me was so nervous he threw up right there in the class room
I imagine the pressure is even worse these days.

Theresa, take the pressure off about the tests! He can retake it (they are offered several more times this year!). He can choose which score to send without them all being sent. Also, have him take the ACT too. My oldest did much better on the ACT then the SAT and didn't even send the SAT to colleges!

I'm finally participating! Well, we had a great Thanksgiving week with our family who live 3 hrs away but we rarely visit. They come here more but I was so happy to be able to spend time at their homes and relieve them of the burden of the drive this time, and also to be able to visit my childhood home with my children, as well as stay with my husband's parents and visit with his sister's family and a dear old friend of mine who recently had her third baby. I've never gotten to visit her postpartum..
Of course, that meant nothing got done here and we launched right into a busy week! Luckily my packing and cleaning was better than in the past so we didn't come home to a giant mess. Monday and Tuesday we spend a big chunk of time out of the house for dance and CGS, which I am really discerning changing. Its a 35 mile drive one way for the CGS and though it is good for the kids, I'm not sure the fruit of the drive and missed home time is worth the fruits of the classes. (levels 1 and 2). Then Wednesday we met with some friends to say goodbye to a fellow homeschooler who has to move back to Mexico. yesterday was our first good day home, and my son was under the weather. It ended up being "clean the boys room" day. Moved all the beds, picked up the junk, toys, clothes, etc. Vacuumed. Moved bed orientation. Wondered why I didn't let my husband build/buy a bunk bed!? (afraid of little jumpers - ahem! -twins) It really would work better in the space than three twin beds. But still, they are happier, I am happier, and now there are 10 boxes to sort rather than a room I don't want to go into. Said my husband this morning, "you think you could do the same thing in the game room (school room/library) today?" I think I will. :) The twins were supposed to get speech testing today -my son went from 3-4 yrs old. - but with the possible illness here I postponed it so as not to spread. So far, he's just not feeling well, so I'm hoping it stays mild around here, and doesn't spread. Blessings on your Friday and weekend, friends!

Prayers for all intentions!
Had a nice Thanksgiving--two gatherings in one day was a little hard on the tummies, but we had a nice time at each. DH is still working extra, but should get two days off in a row soon! He's had only one off every 4 over the past six weeks. We are anxious to have him to ourselves, and I am so thankful he will be home on Sunday! I've been to far too many Masses lately as a "single" mom. And the first Sunday of Advent is when we pull out the manger scene (empty for now), the tree (purple lights until Christmas Eve), and all of that fun stuff. So I am thankful.
Getting myself geared up for our Advent cleaning extravaganza. I hope to go room by room and do a thorough cleaning/decluttering of each. Stuff has become very overwhelming as of late, and I'm feeling an urgent need to get it under control.
All are healthy, the weather has been lovely, and we are facing Advent with anticipation. God is good!

Thanks for the SAT prayers, everyone!
He came out feeling like he did pretty well. He said he was happy with his essay, the math was "not pretty, but not as bad as I thought" and as for the the language sections? In his words "I kicked those language questions in the face."
We will know how he did for sure in a month or so, but at this point are just happy to have it over with!
