Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I know we have discussed this before, but for some reason the search function today is only letting me see one page of results, so I can't see past responses.

I've never had a blog but have been thinking about it. The thing is, I need a very, very easy format, as I am not super computer savvy. My dh is, but he travels for work and so is not always handy for IT support

So, I'm on a Mac, and I want something that will be fairly frustration free.
From my research I know that Typepad charges a monthly fee, but supposedly allows easy picture uploads. Blogger is free but pictures may have to be hosted at another site?

Could I- a product of typing class in high school - successfully use Blogger, or should I just pay my $4.95 a month for the ultimate ease and good support at Typepad?

I have not been able to see more than one page of search results for months now. Maybe I should post this on the tech board.

Anyway, I use blogger and haven't had any problems. Picture upload is slow, but I don't blog much so I don't mind. I have problems with some features occassionaly, but with how little I blog I just go with it. I don't have a MAC thought.

I use Wordpress.com which is free. Picture upload is easy, and so far I haven't had to pay for anything.

Are you on a Mac, Jenn?

The search thing is weird. I'm pretty sure I did a search just a few days ago and could access multiple pages. But maybe I imagined that....

I'm afraid it must have been imagined. The search feature has had a problem for some time now. Any search will only yield one page of results even though there appear to be links to other pages of search results. Hopefully it can be fixed soon.

By the way, I'm on a mac and I use blogger. I find it fairly easy and straightforward to work with, but I have been using it for years.

I think there are probably good and bad features of any blog hosting service you use. And what is intuitive for me may not necessarily be intuitive for you. For example, I tried and tried to work with Wordpress several years ago and just could.not figure it out. ??? I don't know why!

I still use blogger to set up private blogs for my kids and their writing and projects. I might suggest setting up an account with both Wordpress and blogger and just spend some time messing around with either. They're both free to set up and you may find out quickly which you prefer, if either.

What browser do you use? I find that blogger is not as easy to use as it was. I use Firefox and have for years, but recently, I have to use IE to blog without a lot of frustration. No idea about how that translates to Mac.

If I were to start over, I would probably use Wordpress. As it is, I don't get around to blogging enough to make it worth a transfer.

I have used both Wordpress and Blogger. I like the blogger format.
Its easy and can be used on a mac.

I wanted to change to Wordpress but I found wordpress very frustrating so I just stayed with blogger.

To get round the issue of pictures taking a long time to upload I use paint or similar to change the resolution and the image size. its quite easy to do.

I use Windows and Firefox. While my blogs are Wordpress, I'm a guest writer on Blogger and Typepad blogs. I dislike Typepad, and just a little more with Blogger.

But I think that's because I'm used to Wordpress. For organization of posts, Wordpress is hands down best.

I'm going to add my frustration with other blogs is how they work the coding. I can see and edit the codes in the posts more readily than Blogger and Typepad, and I don't get stray and extra codes all over.

Thanks, ladies. This is really helpful. I hadn't thought to try Wordpress.
I use Safari for my browser, but I also have Firefox as a backup.

I will play around with the free sites first and see how it goes....

I am just figuring out that while Blogger is free, Google basically owns your blog. Google is known to make certain programs disappear every now and then. I suppose there is a rsmall chance Google could someday decide to do away with Blogger.

In that case, it would seem as if Google would give you a chance to move your blog or buy it or whatever. Is this something that all you Bloggers have thought about- or do the chances seem too remote to worry about?

Experience with Google with gmail is that when they change something they let you know it's going to happen well in advance and often transfer over the info if they're replacing with something else to do the same thing. I wouldn't worry that it's going to just disappear.

I use blogger, after a failed attempt with another provider (not one mentioned) therefore I love it as I have found it so easy. I do reduce my photo resolution (in picasa) so easy. and we have Chrome (so much faster than firefox which I previously had)
