Gooooooooooooooooood Wednesday to ALL
Thanks so much for your well wishes for our family and Devin's engagement to Michael :) Some of you have watched my little girl grow up and this board has been such a positive influence on her childhood. Thank you thank you!
I honestly have nothing of note to report. I take this as a good sign that things are settling down a bit.
Last week I did sort of freak out and went over our schedule with a fine tooth comb. I used free online flowcharts (DON'T LAUGH LOL) to TRY and capture our reality a bit better. The main relief is being able to quickly see what road a particular decision will take us. Simple questions like, "Is Dad available?" with "yes" leading us down one road and "no" leading us down another. I'm also trying to minimize the "confusion" that my children like to hide behind .
So that's it for now! I sure do love you all and hope your week is awesome
And here's some just for fun .
Love,

Mellow weeks are good, Angie - and nothing to report is sometimes a real blessing!
Things are getting a bit busier for us - next week the girls start CGS Atrium and AHG, so this week is spent touring open houses, submitting registrations, getting to know leaders and catechists.
We've got some significant Feast days coming up with SS. Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael; St. Therese, and St. Francis. This is always a busy week for us with the actual Feast days spent celebrating and doing fun things all day - so now is my time for planning (which I haven't done much of yet! ) But not to worry, sometime's I get inspired while under pressure!
Today has been a really tough day for my girls. Lots of arguing, lots of screaming, lots of tears (and it's not even noon!); so I've proposed we just start over. Start over by huddling all together, airing any grievances that we have, coming up with solutions, then deciding on a fun lunch, and listening to me share stories of my own childhood (they love it when I do this). I proposed that they all get out a sheet of paper and draw a big huge button, color it in, and write the words "Start Over" underneath it - so that we can just push our "start over" buttons every time it gets tense and they start to argue. I thought it was clever, but they all laughed. Guess it is silly, ... but it worked without even doing it because everyone laughed at me and told me how silly I was. Perfect. Perfect because it broke up the "angry-air". Now I could end that little story on a happy-ending note, but I'll be honest and say that not but five minutes later they were screaming over a little doll that they all wanted but nobody wanted to share . ... you know little girls ... sugar and spice and all that.

Cayenne is a spice.
Today is an allergy day.. of course.. because I want to get the back yard cleaned up before it gets too warm.. and we're already behind UGH.. but things are getting done.
And once we have the back yard reasonable we'll be able to do stuff inside for the rest of the afternoon.
Having my family over for dinner on the bbq. Hope to get to some laundry too. School after lunch today. It'll all work.. somehow..

Today is a good day because I had a child help me vacuum around my bed!
What an adjustment it has been to #6. Whew. I'm snuggling my 12 day old little guy here and tyring to rest. It's such a blessing to have a healthy baby, but wow I'm feeling older this time around. :)
I'm also happy to report that my oldest (13yodaughter) has already started back to regular homeschooling as she was "bored" with our babymooning days. LOL Now to just jump start the rest of the crew....

We celebrated my dd Becca's wedding on Saturday and all went well. My son, who is deployed, got a few hours off and made the 8 hour drive up from Ft Bragg to attend the Nuptial Mass and part of the reception before he had to head back.
We were enjoying the quiet after the wedding and the departure of the house guests. Today I hosted our Catholic Homeschoolers group. It was great to get back together after the summer off.
Sadly, my son John had a seizure right in the middle of it. :(. Not such a bad one, but now I'm feeling pretty stressed.

It hadn't been a great week for me. I had to take a "mental health day" on Monday, but it is turning into a week. I really could just sell everything, pack up the kids and dh (and maybe some clothes and the scrapbooks ) and move far away! Anyone want to talk dh into this for me?
One good thing? Dh and I did celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary and 18 years since our first date this week. We spent the day together as a family.

Boy, do these weeks pass quickly! I was surprised to see it was "Shout-out Wednesday"--I had lost track of the days.
We ended up not going to Christendom Collegs to visit Amy for parent's weekend. It was a good thing too, because not only were most of us sick, Amy came down with a hard cold. We are all on the mend now. I did send out a big box of goodies to the college to surprise Amy as midterms approach.
No schoolwork was completed last week, but this week we seem to be back on track. We've had three good days of school and tomorrow Daddy is home, so tomorrow will be a fun day.

Congratulations, Marcia, on the arrival of your little guy!
Happy Anniversary, Cassie! Family days can be so invigorating.
Our week has been a mellow one as well. My Beloved was able to take my ds to football practice this week so I was able to stay home two days in a row this week! I enjoyed every minute of it.
We have now entered into the land of braces this week. My oldest was given braces on Mon. She will eventually have a full mouth of metal but, first, they have just put braces on the top as well as an appliance to stretch her top bridge. Acclimating to this has been relatively easy.
We have gone back to school this week after a Sabbath week. It has been nice to get back into our learning routine.

Well, I'm really behindhand in congratulating you all -- engagements, anniversaries, weddings, new babies . . . ! I saw Angie's news last week, but our week was so frantic that a lot just didn't register (like, I can't even remember whether I posted in this thread last week, but I kind of think not).
Our week: ups and downs. A lot of 8yo-girl emotion still upsetting our days. Needing a breath of fresh air in our routine, so we're going to a gem mine to pan for treasure tomorrow. High schooler is trucking along pretty well, meanwhile, and is almost finished with his Eagle project, which is huge! College girl is making travel plans for her UD Rome semester -- she called the other day to ask whether the travel agent would charge her just for calling to ask for advice. Learning on so many levels here . . .
I've been reviewing galleys for a small book of poems I'm publishing, and that's exciting! After years of sending various MSS around to poetry book contests run by literary presses, and spending lots of money on reading fees and having "always-a-bridesmaid" syndrome (my MS would end up in the top 5, but never get chosen for whatever prize it was), I finally decided that I wouldn't lose anything by publishing myself. This particular manuscript is short poems -- sonnets and other very brief things -- many of which I wrote last Lent as my daily discipline. Most of them aren't overtly "religious" poems, as in poems that you could pray, but hopefully they're poems about true things, or things of this world caught in the light of faith.
I'm giving a talk/reading on religion and poetry, reading from this book and other poems, next Friday, courtesy of a good friend of mine (Betsy also knows her!) who owns a Catholic bookstore. They're kicking off a First Friday series of readings and talks, and I'm really honored to be the first in the series. So this week has also been taken up with thinking about what to say, as well as finalizing everything about the book so that I can have copies on hand next Friday.
(and if you want a sneak preview, you can see it here)
I've also been working off and on for a couple of years on a young-adult adventure/fantasy novel, and this self-publishing thing has been a welcome jumpstart for that project as well. As soon as the poetry book's wrapped up, I want to go back to that one, with an eye to (actually!) finishing it.
None of which has all that much to do with homeschooling, except that my kids live with and are educated by Distracted Mom all the time lately.
Sally
