Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am just about 19 weeks and soon will no longer be able to wear regular tops. I have put off looking for some maternity tops because it is just too depressing. I have a couple, but they are 8 years and 3 pregnancies old (I tend to spill on myself alot while pg ). I am desperate for some new tops. I am looking for just plain knit t-shirt type tops. They must be crew neck. I was in Target the other day and sheesh, I can't believe how low the maternity top necklines go (not to mention the material is see through). I don't want to wear something underneath; I get too hot in 1 layer, I don't want to think about wearing 2. I just want a simple maternity tee in several different colors. The ones I got with my first pregnancy were absolutely perfect, but I can't find anything like them anymore. Thanks for any direction you can give me

what size do you wear?

I also found that some of my best tops were not maternity but regular tops with a high waist (babydoll style).

I don't like anything to be form fitting in any way. I would say L or XL.

Was just looking around for camis with high-ish necklines (for me) and found Shade clothing online.

Free shipping and returns. Quite a few cute crew neck maternity tees in pretty colors ranging in price from $10 to $26.50- and some other cute maternity clothes (and regular clothes), too.

And this LDS list of links to sources for modest maternity clothing might help, too. (That's how I found Shade, oddly enough...).

Well cool.. that's about what I wear too so the same places might work.

These are some I know of

maternity tees

babydoll style tees

trapeze style

They're not crew cut necklines but they're not low cut either. The trapeze style angles out from the bustline so they can work well for maternity too.

Jodie- That babydoll top is too cute! I may have to treat myself to that one if/when we finally have another baby on the way...

Thanks for the suggestions so far, but I really need a crew neck. I just don't feel at all comfortable in any other neckline. Just looking for some very basic t-shirt type shirts in plain colors that I can pair with skirts.

Not a lot of colors, but these might be what you are looking for.

Thanks for this link! Love the free shipping and returns. I'm definitely going to try a couple of their boatneck tees.

Thanks!!!! This is *exactly* what I want! Just wish there were more colors. Perhaps I could buy some and dye them.

The Procion dyes that they sell there at Dharma are quite good. I bought my salt and soda ash from a pool supply place instead of ordering from them, but getting the materials together was the trickiest part. They have excellent step by step instructions in their catalog, and it would not take very much dye to do single tees, so you could even use a bucket or dish tub set inside a utility sink. I like using latex gloves, too, when I'm working with dye, especially if I were pregnant.

I know exactly what you mean. A few months ago I was browsing in Target for maternity tops and kept thinking "I want to look like a Baby Mama not a Hoochie Mama!!"

I love the Dharma link! We order from them sometimes and I've been so happy with the quality. (I'm expecting in Feb. and as usual I passed on all my maternity clothes after our last baby, thinking he was our last.)

Beth, have you considered eBay? People may be selling their older clothes there, so you might get the crew neck and the not-paper-thin fabric.

I don't know what happened to clothes a few years ago but we can hardly buy anything anymore.

I went to Old Navy. They have thin, cotton, very long tank tops to go under their cotton maternity t-shirts. They're clearing out summer stuff right now. At this point in my pregnancy, their shirts and tanks are the only ones long enough to cover my belly. The tanks are a medium level scoop neck, so you're covered even though some t-shirts may be v-neck.
