Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This weekend I took my youngest and oldest and we went to visit the grandparents :)

It was a nice visit. We puttered with papa in his garden. I'll post pics later when I have my camera back. He does container gardening. It's something else. We enjoyed good company, the town had a rodeo going with a small midway, so I brought the kids to that Saturday evening and they each went on a couple rides.

What tickled me most, is I took dd8 to the parish there. I remember this being an immense building, HUGE parish....

I walked in, and it is SO TINY! My parish now has meeting rooms larger that here...hehe. It is about 1/10th the size of ours. Funny how I thought it was bigger.

The priest in my home town, used to be at the parish I'm at now, before we joined there! I didn't know that. And they are getting a newly ordained priest this summer, that has been at our parish here..lol. Totally small world.

It was a nice Mass, Fr. is really good at what he does :) and radiates joy in what he does. I'm continuously surprised a the quality of the clergy as we travel and visit different parishes. I had thought perhaps our parish now, was an exception, but I'm happy to see that it certainly isn't the case! DD8 enjoyed it.

I did find it a little sad that dd8 was the only child in the mass. Some younger ones had left early in to go to Sunday school, about 6 or 7 kids were dismissed to go(It was sweet, the congregation sang "May the blessings of the Lord be upon you...) but there were no other kids there! But there were still masses to go, and they do have a 6pm Teen mass, if it's like ours here, it will be busy and lots of people then, and many kiddos then.

Dad loaded us up with plants... barely room to bring the children home! So the girls have a jump start to their gardens, the only condition is to return the hanging planters after I transplant or in the fall.

It's time to find my pails and create more self-watering containers.

Sounds like a lovely visit! Later this summer I'll be making a trip to the town in which I grew up (no family has lived there for over a decade, so I haven't been back in a long time), and I am curious to see if my experience is similar to yours--I remember our church building being large, but is it really? It will be interesting to see what changes have taken place in the town over the years.
