A column appeared in the Arlington Catholic Herald yesterday under my byline. It was significantly edited. To read the entire, unedited version please visit my blog.
This hasn't been a very good day. Your prayers are appreciated.

Hi Elizabeth,
I read the article in the Herald yesterday--I wonder why they edited it? Was it length or content? I loved the unedited version (and the Herald version, not knowing the other existed) and it got me thinking. You know Catholic Exchange is going to post it in the coming days--they always do--is there any way to get them the unedited version? It would be wonderful for more people to see it.

Molly,
I wrote Catholic Exchange yesterday and they had it scheduled for Touched By Grace. When I sent them the whole version, they bumped it up to the lead story. The editor there was very kind and supportive. Still haven't heard from the Herald editor, but it was late Friday when I made the discovery and wrote him about it..

Elizabeth,
I'm sorry that they edited your article. I think they should at least put the entire piece on the Herald website.
Just so you know, I read the Herald's version yesterday and thought it was wonderful.
Thanks for posting the full column!
Praying for you here,
Jen

Elizabeth, your Herald article was excellent even with the editing but that was really too bad that such an integral part of your article was taken out. I'm sure so many people would have benefited from that section. Thanks for putting that up on your site.

Catholicexchange.com has the entire article as the lead article today. If you get a chance, please click on it. I appreciate their support and would like to generate some traffic. And if you are so inclined, let the Herald know which version you prefer. Write to letters@catholicherald.com
And, to Bridget! Her quotes made both versions!

Hi Elizabeth,
I visited your article at the Catholic Exchange, forwarded it on to people, and wrote the Herald. Do you think it will up the traffic count at the Catholic Exchange if I open it multiple times myself?

I just went to open it again and can't. In fact, I can't get to the Catholic Exchange site at all now. Anyone else?

Not working for me, either. We'll keep trying. It's probably all of Elizabeth's friends and family that crashed the server.
Elizabeth, it's a great article. The quote from Msgr. Burke really adds another dimension that needs to be said. I'm so sorry the Herald took it out.

It's a good article, Elizabeth and I received an email today from a friend in Fairfax with the Catholic Exchange link, so I'd say it's definitely making the rounds.

I'm sending it around, too. I sure with the NC Catholic would publish something like that! Say a prayer for the choice of our new bishop!
