Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Is anybody familiar with this online community/website/whatever-you-want-to-call-it. It's kind of like a blog with several authors who write encouraging articles. Then there is the online community part which seems like a forum such as 4real. And last weekend there were meet-ups all across the country which seemed really neat. I watched several videos that were on you tube to promote the meet-ups and they were really good. The sense of community that they showed really made me want to go to one..

I almost went to the one that was hosted a couple of hours from here, but then my friend died, so I spent the weekend with her family and going to the wake instead.

In searching the site and reading the different blogs of people who I found there, I didn't come across any Catholics. It's a Christian based community, but I am always wary of whether the undertones might be anti-Catholic...

There just seemed to be such a loving atmosphere between all these women. I know I have really been lonely lately, and I'm aching for some kind of connection like this. Is there any Catholic community like this? Not saying all you ladies here aren't wonderful... I'd just love to meet some of you IRL. Am I making any sense? I miss having "girl" friends...

I don't think there are meet ups, but Suscipio is a Catholic women's encouragement type blog. I've seen posts by Elizabeth Foss and several members of this board, I think.

I'm so sorry for your loss and am praying for Pam's soul.

I'm not familiar with incourage and I don't follow Suscipio, but I thought I would mention how I gained wonderful friends IRL and online.

Years ago, I consolidated my IRL social time to meeting other Catholic homeschoolers. After a few years, I found some kindred spirits and continue to grow those friendships.

At the same time I consolidated my online social time here. After a few years, I found some of my dearest friends (some I have met IRL, most not.) I now also keep in touch via twitter.

At the same time, I attended my parish. I honestly didn't think I would find friends there, but after some time, I did.

At one point I was very frustrated, confused, and lonely regarding women friends. I remember praying to God...and finally letting go...and trusting Him completely with my social life. He hasn't let me down .

Praying for you with much empathy!

Love,

I too find it difficult to make and maintain close friendships at this stage in my life. Our Parish is very school driven, so it's hard to find kindred spirits (oh, I need to watch Anne again and absorb some of her optimism).
