Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

For kids who tend to get motion-sickness in a car, do 3D movies in the theatres make them sick too?

We want to go to a matinee tomorrow and our only options are 3D movies.

What is your experience? Advice?

It depends on the movie.. but it's very simple in the theatre.. just close your eyes.

The sickness can be the difference between what you feel and what you're seeing.. and since you're still in the theatre.. all the conflicting data is canceled out by closing your eyes.

The only time it's bothered me is occationally with lots of flashing lights and/or things like the camera being on the front of a rollercoaster.

When we were at Disney recently we went to a few 3-D shows. Both Rob and I got queasy and had headaches after the 3-D movies. We don't get queasy on crazy coaster rides. I don't get motion sick, but Rob does.

My motion-sickness prone kids didn't have trouble with the 3-D movies though.

My theory?

Both Rob and I wear glasses. I do think that had an effect on the glasses and our eyes' ability to focus.

If you can wear contacts, I don't think the 3-D movie will bother you. If you or any of the girls HAVE TO wear glasses, I'd avoid it.

I wear glasses and 3D movies really annoy me, so much so that I actively avoid them. So do IMAX films, which tend to make me even more motion sick! (I am not normally prone to motion sickness, only in movie theaters.)

Hmmm... I wear glasses, and the 3D and IMAX films bother me, too! I had not even thought of that connection!

I don't wear glasses (I had LASIK about 8 years ago) but I get very motion sick at 3D movies.

The movies never seem to bother my kids, though!

I have a feeling it partly depends on how many swooping changes of viewpoints the movie has. The more *swoops* in the movie the greater chance of upset tummies.

I personally find 3-D movies frustrating as they depend on the viewer having normal depth perception-something I don't *have* and according to the eye doctor's can''t acquire (-I was too old for my brain to learn to integrate two images after a lifetime spent automatically editng out the blurry image.). So the amount of unnecessary *swooping* and the need to wear glasses is very annoying considering I don't see 3-D (and yes I've been motion sick from watching a regular film with lots of *swooping*)
