Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Do your children like these? Which ones do you recommend? What age children like these?
Thanks!

My 7 yo just got 2 hex bugs and a hex bug habitat for his birthday. They are intriguing! The kids really like them! I wouldn't know what to recommend though since it was a gift. What ages? Well, everyone from my 3 yo to my 11 you was utterly fascinated, so I'd say anywhere from toddler to tween is a safe bet. The hex bugs have already been removed from their "habitat" and received a palatial lego home on the lego table.

Well, we made a bristlebot once and loved it.

My 7yo son loved his hex bugs when he got them for Christmas. Then he used his birthday money to go a buy another habitat and several more bugs. It was fun to watch the little bugs run around (they make be a bit squeamish though since they look like cockroaches, imo.)

Unfortunately, they have been put aside for other things. Once he reconfigured their habitat in every formation he and his 10 yo brother could think of, he couldn't thing of anything else to do with them. I'll have to encourage him to get them back out next time we have a rainy "I'm bored" kind of day.

Rebecca, my son really wants to make a bristlebot. Did you solder the wires to the pager motor? Do you think there is another way to do that? I don't know how to solder.

Becky, no, we did not solder the wires. We put them b/t the battery and double sided tape but it did take some wiggling around to get it just right.

Also, I don't know why but try as we might, we coulnd't harvest the buzzer from a cell phone. We finally went up to the cell phone repair place and asked if they could be purchased. He just looked at us with an odd expression until we said what it was for. Then he gave us three at no charge. Bless him.

They're great fun! We hope you like doing it!

Hex bugs were short lived curiosities for my kids. They liked them at first, but they didn't have a lot of staying power. They played with them once or twice, but it wasn't a toy that really clicked with my boys. And then I found my DD chewing on them, and they buzzed no more, LOL. If they hadn't been broken by a sneaky toddler, I suspect they would have been something I could have gotten out now and then to renewed interest though.
