Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Dawn, I forgot you had asked about widgets, too! Sorry about that.

A widget is a bit of code that you insert in your sidebar to create a special kind of link or function. Some widgets are simply links to feed services like Bloglines. Others show rolling headlines from your recent posts (see an example here—scroll down a little to see the "Currently in the Common Room" box) or other kinds of changing content that is forwarded by whatever service offers the widget.

You could have a widget that shows what the weather is like where you live, constantly updated. Or one that shows a daily Bible verse. Or one that shows a dictionary word of the day.

Typepad has partnered with several widget providers to make it super-easy to put a widget on your blog, but the options are rather limited. Lots of feed/aggregator services, some advertising services, photos & music, etc. To get Bible verses or word of the day, you'd have to look elsewhere and insert the code manually in a Typelist. They do have that "Currently in {your blog's name]" headlines widget, though.

If anyone ever comes across a "saint of the day" widget, let me know!

Me too! I have the daily readings from Catholic content but no Saint of the day...though their site says they have more options coming soon.

God bless!

I see they have Weatherbug, which I have on my desktop. It's kind of cute ... except that it's flashing at me right now with more warnings about the snow!

Now that would be cool!
Thanks again, Lissa!
