Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Just wondering how many (if ANY) of y'all are in the Macon, GA area?? we are moving to Warner Robins, GA this spring, and I am a little nervous about being the "only Catholics" on the block!!

I can see the stares already! ;o)

LOL I live in the Goose Creek area of SC (outside Charleston). We definitely have some of the bible belt culture where we are. I have found that it is important to find a good church near you. I have on near me and it's nice and the priest seems to be a great speaker (engaging) and that's great. I don't know much about their sacraments program because dd is still young but we will be investigating that in a couple years. They only have education starting at K5. DD is only 3.5.

Also try and find some Catholic groups on meetup.com (love this site it's also great to find groups regarding home schooling, stay at home parents, parents in general, play groups, etc) and the church. Try to get involved in the church.

Good luck.

We may not be looking at the same parish in Warner Robins, but I looked at Sacred Heart's site and clicked the tabs for Sacraments.

Reconciliation probably isn't seperated out because most children begin at the same time as First Holy Communion. Under the FHC tab is info about First Reconciliation and an upcoming Reconciliation workshop.

Sacred Heart's bulletin shows an amazing and quite active parish! If it represents the Catholic community in the town, your family will be blessed.

Thanks, it was the parish I was looking at, St. Joseph in Macon blew me away.
Right now we're coming from Northern VA and it's VERY conservative, and we LOVE it.. so I'm prayerful we find a parish that feels that way.

And we've been to several in the Orlando area that do not even feel Catholic at all.

Krystin, It's soooo hard to find something similar to Northern VA!!!! You don't realize how blessed we are, warts and all, until you venture away!

I don't know the area, but after checking things out, if things aren't great, you might find oasis in nearby monasteries or convents. (Don't know if there are any, just suggesting to keep an eye out.) You might find some priest not attached to a parish that might be a good fit for a spiritual director. We had that in Shreveport, LA (also part of the Bible Belt) and generously gave us family confession time once a week.

If you belong to any other Catholic homeschool yahoo groups, put an OT post looking for people in GA, or those who might know the area.
