Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are!!! I'm so excited. I think this is our most organized beginning in ~12 years of homeschooling! I've got EVERYTHING included in their planners. Now let's hope we stay organized not just on paper :D

And we're starting out on a sweet note with a crown cake for today's Memorial. Happy Queenship of Mary!

Prayers for all of you!

We are.   I am not prepared at all, but our whole family is missing our oldest who left for college last week. Even though we have taken the children to do fun things, I think we need some routines and structure here. So math and reading it is!

We are too! My second daughter was up early and she did her math, reading and religion! Good thing she's on the ball, because I'm not quite there yet.

We actually started last Monday but it was the wrong week to start - way to many other activities going on! So I called last week "orientation week" and we officially started this morning.
My dd is really on the ball too Missy! I wish I could get my boys in line. If they were all like their sister we'd be done with school every day by 10 AM and I'd get to sit around eating bon bons!!

I like your style, Becky! Heee.... I'll make that my backup if things don't work out as I'm hoping they would

I have a child just like yours -- I've had to really load him up this year with work or he'd be whining from lunchtime on to play on the PC because he finished his work early.

Count us in...but more along the lines that Bridget mentioned. I actually still need to order a couple of things!

In preparing for this year, I don't know...usually in the past (this is year 13 for us,) I have begun planning the next year back in March or April! This year...no go. Maybe it's my age? Boys' ages? I really am looking forward to our year; I just have had a hard time getting into the groove!

Next week for us. We still have a week of swimming lessons left, we have house-guests arriving tomorrow, we just discovered a leak in the roof , and I am waiting on my latest Amazon order: a book on Graphic Art projects and a light table for ds.
So, no. Not quite ready.

Well, yes, we started today but only because dh said to. I was thinking Sept. 6 sounded good I think he got tired of the boredom squables. I just didn't hear them anymore. So, it was a bit unorganized and I still feel a little unsettled but we did it.

Well, kind of..... My kids take some classes 2 days a week and that starts tomorrow and the local schools started today so this seemed a good point.

But....I'm not near organized and not near ready and was thinking Sept. 6 sounded good too! May be I'll be ready by then.

I can't think about school when it's 106 outside. I'm just too lazy. Ooops...may be I shouldn't confess that?

off topic but....

Theresa, what Graphic Arts book did you order? (I think our kids are doubles! From the marine biology and ancients to graphic arts! Graphic art is what my dd is begging for this year...)

I have been easing us back in for a couple weeks. I started making sure we were consistently doing our morning prayers and morning basket one week, then the next week we added copywork for 5 mins at the end of the morning basket. We did that for a couple weeks, then we added in math (5-10 min drill plus either some living math books and games or 10-15 minutes of a new lesson after copywork). Today we added a history reading and narration for DS1 (7) and a phonics lesson for DS2 (5) after math.

Still not sure what we'll add next week, but so far this adding back slowly is working well. Plus, we're able to still take advantage of the great weather. We only have a couple months of good weather left before we'll be inside most of the day and have plenty of time for school.

Smart move Krista,
This is the first year I did not do that and I have a feeling we should have. Summer was just too packed. Well, there is always next year

Oh, I really love that idea. I'll have to consider that going forward.

I ordered this one:Creative Workshop: 80 challenges to sharpen your design skills
I haven't seen it in hand yet, but Amazon's "Look Inside" feature has a good sized sample to look at. I'm pretty excited about it, actually. It looks fun!

We started yesterday, too. So far, so good! The kids have been motivated and today everyone was done earlier than usual. :)

I think it helped that we had a family meeting on Sunday. The topics quickly turned to school, so they are more motivated since they have been more involved in planning their days.

Starting today! We're headed through the middle ages which promises to be filled with monks and knights galore! Every sinlgle child is psyched? Can't believe it.

Big thank you to Jen Mack for all her notebook posts because the boys and I all have our very own notebooks filled with great notebooking pages, etc for our Journey through this time!
